We are never ready for when an animal sneaks into our hearts and grabs hold! The ability that certain creatures have to evoke our love is almost uncanny. The role that shelters and rescue centers play is crucial to our love when we meet new animals.

Sometimes it’s a rescue center, other times its a chance accident!

Many pet owners find themselves owners only after an accident! Sometimes a kid just brings a creature into your home and you just can’t help but fall in love. There are countless stories of people who run into abandoned animals and take them into their own homes out of the kindness of their hearts.

Regardless of how you met, we all love the animals that we share our lives with.

Shea Prior ended up having a chance encounter that led to a friendship she never expected! Shea, obviously having a kind heart, had taken to feeding a local cat that would come up to her door.

After developing a little habit, the cat kept coming back.

Like many animals, once the cat had found a consistent source of food, she kept coming back! Shea was happy to oblige the cute animal and would provide meals and treats for it when she came around.

The little encounters grew into a friendship.

As the duo kept meeting, trust started to be built. Many “wild” pets don’t allow you to get too close but the cat started to allow Shea to get closer and closer. Eventually, she was able to pet the stray!

When Shea would go out to water her plants, the cat would show up, looking for pats and food!

The relationship continued to develop to a point that nobody would have expected. One day while Shea was outside, the cat finally allowed Shea to pick her up and love on her!

Upon the closer inspection of the stray, Shea realized something incredible.

Detailing it in a Facebook post, she said:

“Soooo I have been feeding this stray cat in my backyard for a couple days. Yesterday she was being very sweet and let me pick her up to love on her, and that’s when I noticed her little boobies were enlarged with milk.”

Once Shea realized that this was a momma cat, she started to investigate!

Wanting to make sure the babies were healthy and taken care of, Shea started “asking” the momma about her kittens.

Funny enough, the momma cat can’t meow, only croak! When Shea was asking about her kittens, momma started croaking away. Shea said:

“So if course I started telling her to show me to her babies, and that I bet her babies were so pretty. All the while she’s just croaking away (because she can’t meow, she just croaks for some reason haha).”

The next day proved that momma cat knew what Shea was asking!

In a crazy turn of events, momma cat showed up while Shea was watering her plants again. When she looked up, she realized something different this time. Momma had brought her kittens!

Momma, with her tail held high, runs over with five kittens in her wake.

More than a stray kitten or two, momma brought her whole crew. With five little ones, momma sure had her hands full. It goes to show how understanding many of our pets can be! When Shea asked to see her kittens, she obliged.

The end of the story and forever homes.

Shea took ALL the cats in and began to actively search for homes for them. Shea decided to permanently adopt momma and found forever homes for each of the small kittens.

Starting a fundraiser to help with vet bills, Shea has given them all loving homes.

On her GoFundMe page, she detailed:

I’ve become unemployed due to the coronavirus I want mama taken care of, but I can’t afford it right now. Anything will help, and if there is anything left after vet bills, the remainder will be donated to my local no-kill animal shelter.
