Cats are very proud creatures, they are tough and resilient and in control of themselves.
If a cat likes you it can show you by rubbing up against you and showing its belly, if they don’t like you, prepare for hisses and swipes, and maybe even bites.
When one stray cat showed up at a man’s front door and started meowing, he didn’t know what to make of it.
The cat seemed friendly and so the man decided he would let her in and see what happened.
She immediately went to him and started nudging his legs with her head in a display of thankfulness and gratitude.
The cat seemed to settle into the home very well, and the man decided that if she wanted to stay, he would take care of her.
In the following days, the cat made herself more and more at home, and the pair settled into life together.
However, the new cat owner noticed that his new best friend was sleeping a lot and had started to gain more weight.
He soon realized that his new housemate was pregnant and would give birth very soon.
The expectant mother knew she was pregnant and wanted to make sure her babies were safe and warm right from the moment of their birth.
And that is exactly what happened, the man came home a few days later to the sounds of tiny squeaks and mews.
The cat had a successful delivery, and soon there were 3 tiny new kittens in the home.
Knowing he wouldn’t be able to care for 4 cats, the man started looking for other families who would like to adopt a kitten and before long had new homes set up for each of the babies.
According to the Pet Keen website, as well as many other sources, kittens should remain with their mother for at least 12 weeks before being separated.
For the next 3 months, the man cared for all 4 felines and watched the kittens grow into strong and healthy little babies.
Soon they were off to their new homes, and the momma cat could start living a life of leisure instead of being constantly vigilant over her babies.
Now and healthy and happy house cat, both she and her new human were pleased with how things had turned out.
There are many stray cats wandering the streets, and we need to do all we can to protect them and help stop overpopulation.
From leaving out food and water to creating little shelters out of insulated coolers, helping a stray is never a bad thing.
The best thing to do for them, however, is to bring them to a vet so they can be properly checked over and neutered.
You can then either re-release them where you found them, or adopt them and bring them into your home.
While cats can be a little prideful and aloof sometimes, there is no better feeling than running your hands through their soft fur as they sleep, purring loudly on your lap.
