Defending your turf is no simple task. Every person within a good distance might encroach on your territory, and you’d better be sure to let them know whose territory it is.
It’s even harder if you’re 4kg stray cat.
In a brief, but all-too hilariously telling video, this one stray cat seems to really dislike everyone. It looks to be a “Me vs the world” situation here, and though the odds seem impossible, it’d be untrue to say this cat isn’t putting up a fight.
Perhaps this kitty is a seasoned fighter, because it’s really going after things way outside its weight division.
Granted, it can only go for the ankles.
But seeing how none of the passersby seem to fight back, I think this kitty’s got its reputation out for itself. They know this is a fight they can’t win, obviously. When you’ve claimed the whole street as your turf, you’d better have the nerve and the backbone to back it up.
And with how many people need to cross the street and the sidewalk, that means an equally large number of people who need a regular reminder of that.
There are no other stray cats to be found here, and I can only guess it’s because they’ve conceded to this one.
The people walking by are less than impressed if a little annoyed and surprised. The first person gets swiped at the ankles and gives the cat some profanity before leaving. Wouldn’t we all? That is kinda rude, even for a cat.
Not long after, a couple walks past the cat, and the cat gives the guy a good old scratch at the calves. This guy jumps a bit, and I’d like to think that he didn’t want this cat ruining his fly-as-hell pair of black Adidas.
The cat has a go at a woman lugging along a bag, but this time the cat doesn’t quite manage to scare her into a jump.
I bet the cat was real confused for a second.
Kitty doesn’t care about being outnumbered either. Even when a group of 4-5 people are walking past, this cat lashes out at their ankles. Though saying “lashes out” is making it seem a lot more threatening than it actually is.
As funny as this may be to watch, feral cats aren’t as funny of an issue. They’re pretty destructive, and a lot of the not-so-sociable stray cats you see might just live their whole lives like that. This is in no small part due to how careless people have gotten with adopting cats and letting them breed nonstop.
So I hope this cat, as funny as its pugnacious personality is, eventually chills out a bit, finds a home and gets neutered.
I wouldn’t want a cat this angry having kids, lest we all be doomed.
That’s at least 3 more cats like him, all on some unfortunate sidewalk somewhere. Imagine how bad of a day every passersby is going to have on those sidewalks! This is why you neuter your cats, folks.
