12-year-old Duncan had been wandering the streets for who knows how long. He was tired, disoriented, and hungry – on top of all this, Duncan was blind. Somehow, he had wandered into a junkyard where he collapsed in exhaustion. An employee of the junkyard noticed the tattered dog and quickly ran to grab him some food and water.; she could tell that the Pit Bull needed serious help.

Her boss wanted to contact animal control, but the employee had a bad feeling about the senior dog’s future if that were the case. She knew a rescue organization was Duncan’s only chance.

The junkyard employee knew that if anyone could rescue and help Duncan, it would be Hope for Paws. As soon as they received the call about the poor dog, the rescue team sprung into action and made their way to the location.

After denying the water and food being offered to him, Hope for Paws knew it would be best to get the dog out from under the dumpster as soon as possible, the scared and confused boy needed immediate medical attention.

Hope for Paws slipped a leash around the blind, old dog and Duncan let them slowly pull him out from underneath the dumpster.

After Duncan was in the arms of rescuers, they were able to get a closer look at him. They noticed he has a piece of rope tied around his neck, which meant that he must have had a home at one time. It’s uncertain what his previous living conditions were, but it’s clear that they were not good.

When Duncan was loaded into the rescue vehicle, he welcomed any and all pets and affection. It’s uncertain, but the rescuers feared that the sweet dog hadn’t received this sort of love and attention in years.

“I’m sorry whoever did this to you, I’m so sorry,” the rescuers repeated to him in the video posted on YouTube.

When Duncan arrived at the vet clinic, it was determined that the poor dog wasn’t just blind. In addition to his blindness, the Pit Bull was dehydrated, had two tumors, ulcers, and a skin disease. The doctors thought it might be best to end his suffering and put him down; however, the rescuers knew in their hearts that he shouldn’t go quite yet.

Hope for Paws knew that Duncan was in bad shape, but they knew of some professionals that could possibly help him – Frosted Faces Foundation. The rescue group reached out the foundation, who specializes in helping senior dogs, and they quickly agreed to help.

After years of neglect, Hope for Paws wanted to make sure Duncan lived out his days surrounded by love, affection, and safety.

Frosted Faces Foundation was soon able to place Duncan into a foster home, and it seems the once stray, scared dog couldn’t be happier. Duncan loves to snuggle, sleep in laundry baskets, and give lots of kisses. Since he has dementia, he gets a little confused sometimes, but his foster family is always there to help and comfort him.

The sweet dog’s foster family isn’t sure how much longer Duncan will be around, but they couldn’t be happier to give him the love that he’s always deserved. Watch Duncan’s rescue in the video below.
