There’s a sneaky thief on the prowl in Metairie, Louisiana, and the Bardi family is on a mission to spread the word.
Imagine waking up, sipping your morning coffee, and finding a random collection of clothes on your front porch.
That’s right, not the newspaper, but clothes!
It began innocently enough, with a lone tank top and a few socks making a surprise appearance.
The homeowners were downright confused.
Joseph Bardi remarked, “All these different dish towels,” showcasing a collection that looked like they’d just done a load of laundry.
And the collection kept growing – from shirts, to bathing suits, to socks!
Every day was like a bizarre episode of “What’s on the Porch Today?”
Heather Bardi, probably wondering if she was on some hidden camera show, told WWL-TV,
“I thought like somebody was messing with me.”
The couple turned into amateur sleuths, trying to crack the case of the mysterious clothing donations.
Joseph mused, “We just thought alright maybe someone got drunk and had clothes and had some kind of issue. It keeps happening and happening and happening.”
With concern growing, they did what any concerned citizen would do: they filed a police report.
The couple also decided to take matters into their own hands and set up security cameras, hoping to film the person in action.
Talk about upping the home security game!
One day, Heather walked outside and caught the culprit herself.
Turns out, it was their own cat!
Yes, the mastermind behind this clothing caper was none other than their feline friend, Admiral Galacticat.
Caught red-pawed on camera, with a sock dangling from his mouth like a catnip toy.
Heather, probably trying not to laugh, said, “Are you kidding me?”
The next mission?
Finding the rightful owners of the stolen goods.
They even put up a sign: “My cat stole your kid’s bathing suit. Please knock!”
Though it sat outside their home, it seemed Admiral Galacticat’s victims were a tad shy.
Taking to social media, Heather’s post titled “My cat is stealing someone’s laundry” went viral with over 9,000 shares.
As the plot thickened, it turned out Admiral Galacticat didn’t venture far for his loot.
Just around the block, a neighbor’s laundry room was his favorite boutique.
One of the “victims,” Casey O’Neal, initially thought, “What kind of idiot lets a cat steal their clothes?”
But after seeing the post, he admitted to WWLT-TV, “But then I ended up being that idiot. As soon as she mentioned Nike socks, I was like oh those might be mine.”
Grateful for the laugh and the mystery’s resolution, Casey gave the mischievous cat a gentle pat and told him to cool it on stealing his clothes.
With plans to secure his laundry room, everyone hopes Admiral Galacticat’s life of crime is in the past.
But who knows? Maybe he’s planning his next big heist: stealing hearts!
