The brave men and women of our military sacrifice so much to defend our rights and freedom and unfortunately do not have the privilege to come home every night. This brave soldier was deployed overseas for eleven months and his family and close friends missed him dearly, but perhaps it was his loyal four-legged best friend who missed him the most.
When he received the news that he would finally be able to return home after being deployed for almost a year, this soldier decided that he would surprise his loyal dog by hiding underneath a blanket at home.
His beloved pooch, who listens to the name ‘Shabby’, instantly knew that something was off in the room when he spotted the blanket. The dog’s reaction when he finally saw his best friend again after eleven long months is absolutely fantastic.
The extremely cute surprise was simple, yet effective. The soldier hid completely still under a large blanket on the couch and was anxiously waiting until his pooch would approach him and realize that his owner returned.
As soon as mom let Shabby enter the room, he started sniffing all the way around the couch. When he finally got close to his owner, the dog started waggling his tail and actually whined. He realized that he was in for a surprise.
“Get it Shabby, get it, get it, get it Shabby,” the pup’s mom cheered.
Then the soldier finally removes the blanket and the dog absolutely goes wild.
He climbs on top of his owner immediately and is incredibly elated to see that he was finally back. After a couple of quick and very intense hugs and kisses, Shabby ran a couple of laps around the table in pure excitement.
The soldier is also clearly very happy to have his friend back and couldn’t wait to play with him!
“Did you miss me?” he said after giving his pup a couple of large hugs. “He’s all over the place,” mom laughed.
The fantastic video was viewed almost half a million times on YouTube and has been seen around the world.
“Now that’s what you call a welcome home, and a how much I’ve missed you daddy. Awesome 💕,” one of the viewers commented.
What a priceless surprise reaction and a heartwarming reunion! These two best friends finally reunited after eleven long months and it’s one of the cutest things we’ve seen all day.
