Have you ever owned a Ragdoll? If so, you’ll know that they’re an extremely friendly breed of cat. These fluffy beauties will run to greet their owners at the door, follow them around the house, and collapse into their arms whenever they get the chance.
In this adorable clip, uploaded to YouTube by Animal Planet, we see an adorable group of Ragdoll kittens meeting a friendly German shepherd named Mari.
The footage is from an episode of Too Cute, an Animal Planet series that showcases “the miracle of cute”— which include anything from a puppy’s first bark to a tiny kitten’s first, hesitant steps.
In this video, we are introduced to a 5-week-old litter of fluffy ragdolls kitten. Snowball is described as the most adventurous of the bunch and was the first to explore the world outside of the litter’s cozy nest.
The kittens are just at the age when they start to play and really go nuts. They have spent their day hunting down bell toys and chasing each other’s tails and are just settling down for nice nap.
Although the kittens are ready for bed, Mari, the German shepherd, seems to have other plans. The patient pup has anxiously been waiting to meet the kittens and now she finally has her chance.
Nudging the door to the kitten room open, Mari enters and quickly begins greeting the fluffy bunch. She sniffs and nudges them with her massive snout, excited to be part of the group.
Initially, the kittens are hesitant. They’re not sure what to think of such a big, “scary” dog. Mari, with her charm and personality, however, has a few secret cards in her hand. She barks a bit and tries to blend in.
Mari immediately lies down and starts smothering the mewing kitten with tons of affectionate kisses and love. Snowball, for her part, seems in her glory. It’s clear she is the willing recipient of Mari’s boundless buckets of love.
It’s so amazing to be able to see these heartwarming animal moments. It’s not often you get such a complete bird’s eye view of the exact moment two creatures become friends.
