Cat owners are kind of like parents; we all think our kitty is the cutest and the best. For the most part, we’re all kind of right— is there really a kitty that isn’t cute? Some people, however, have cats that go beyond cute. These gorgeous cats are the Elizabeth Taylors of the feline world, making cat lovers everywhere go gaga over their stunning appearance.
Smoothie, dubbed “The Most Photogenic Cat In The World”, is definitely one of these feline goddesses.
Smoothie is a British Longhair that reached the heights of Instagram fame as a result of her adorably photogenic appearance.
Smoothie looks like a typical British Longhair— but a whole lot prettier. She sports the breed’s iconic fluffy coat and chipmunk cheeks, as well as gorgeous, round, emerald eyes.
As mentioned, Smoothie is known for her beauty, being nicknamed “The Most Photogenic Cat In The World”. Most of us mere mortals only have one good angle— but not Smoothie. This goddess of beauty looks good from every way you approach her!
Smoothie lives in the Netherlands with her human mom Arvid van Boekel and cat sibling Milkshake. Van Boekel originally started the Instagram account because her (clearly ungrateful) friends were getting annoyed with all the adorable cat pictures she was sharing.
“I started this Instagram account because I was posting too many pictures on Facebook, and my friends were complaining,” she told The Huffington Post.
“But I just had so many nice pictures that I wanted to share with the world… And in a few months, Smoothie gained a lot of followers all around the world.”
Smoothie’s Instagram account currently boasts more than 1 million followers! People can’t get enough of this fluffy kitty and her amazing emerald eyes.
Van Boekel says Smoothie knows that she’s beautiful and loves posing and strutting her stuff (fluff?) in front of the camera.
Even as a kitten, she was a natural model.
“She’s really calm— as you can see in the videos I uploaded— and prefers people over other cats.”
Van Boekel must not be referencing Milkshake, however! Because these two seem to get along juuuuuust fine.
Van Boekel says Smoothie is an affectionate, cuddly kitty, who doesn’t mind stopping to strike a pose. “It’s really hard to concentrate when there’s such a photogenic cat around you the whole time!” she jokes.
“I guess all cat owners think they have the most precious kitten, but people seemed to agree that Smoothie really is special.”
