“Everyone smiles in the same language.” – George Carlin
No matter how sad you are or how bad your day has been, if someone welcomes you with a smile – then that burden will become lighter.
A puppy seems to know what a smile could do and has mastered the skill of smiling at people as he hopes to be adopted to a loving home.
This black labrador pup had developed a funny and adorable habit of smiling at people who would talk to him in a high-pitched tone.
Meet the viral pup named Burreaux.
Burreaux has two other siblings named Joe and O. The three pups were rescued by Sarrah Walton, a volunteer from the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana. She was also the one who chose their names.
Sarrah is a big fan of the Louisiana State University’s football team – so you’ve guessed it right! She named the 8-week old puppies Joe, Burreaux, and O.
This was after the organization’s director, Courtney Wingate, saw them at a kill shelter. They vowed to save the puppies and give them another chance to find their forever home.
Unfortunately, upon arriving at the shelter, the three pups tested positive for parvovirus. This virus is a life-threatening gastrointestinal virus that affects mostly puppies.
They were transferred to a vet and were treated there.
Burreaux didn’t look well and was very ill. The vet made sure that the puppy made a full recovery, and he did! In fact, he has managed to win the people’s hearts with this very charming smile in the short time that he was there.
Not long after, one of the siblings, Joe, got adopted. It was after the shelter posted a video of handsome Joe playing fetch. He was a natural, and this got him adopted really quickly.
Of course, it was good news, but it also meant that Burreaux and O were left behind.
Both puppies wanted to be adopted, and they both want to find their forever homes. When Burreaux returned to the shelter, Sarrah Walton noticed something different about him. She saw that whenever someone would pay attention to Burreaux and if that person would talk using a high-pitched voice, this pup would start smiling.
This puppy was using his charm to get adopted!
“It’s whenever you’re talking real sweet to him … he gets this smile like he wants something,” Sarrah Walton shared with The Dodo. “[It’s] like he’s telling you, ‘Come pet me, come love me.'”
Last February 2020, the shelter published a video showing charming Mr. Burreaux wagging his tail and smiling – it’s as if he knew he was being filmed.
Look at his charming smile!
The shelter describes Burreaux as a very playful, sweet, and active dog. According to updates, Burreaux and his sister O have already found their forever home.
