Callie the pitt/catahoula mix is like any other loyal dog, she wants to protect her beloved human. She’s sitting next to a baby that can’t be more than a few weeks old, who is casually napping on a little blue carpet on the floor of the house.
The puppy is at his side, but you can see she’s getting drowsy.
She’s looking up at the person behind the camera with her puppy dog eyes and trying her best to stay awake.
But I think we’ve all been there – tired and too stubborn to admit it. She doesn’t want to miss out on any of the fun! And of course, she has to protect the baby while he sleeps.
Callie starts literally swaying back and forth with her eyes half closed.
To help herself stay awake, she starts pacing around the blanket. But you can tell that nap instinct is about to take over.
The person behind the camera can be heard fawning over the little pup and saying,
“do you not know how to lay down, honey?”
…And I let out an audible sigh of love.
Puppies sleep for about 14 to even 18 hours a day, so it’s no wonder she’s tired!
She certainly does look like she’s struggling a little!
Eventually she gives in and finds a cozy spot to curl up next to the baby.
Finally able to rest her head, she finds the perfect spot between the baby’s shoulders and head. That warm nook that will be sure to put her right to sleep.
She looks at the camera again, almost as if to say this is my baby, I’ve got my eyes on you.
She still wants to find a way to protect him… even if she’s ready for a quick siesta.
The term ‘puppy dog eyes’ was invented for sweet little pups like Callie here!
And then she’s ready for a snooze and drifts off.
Throughout the video you can hear some people puttering about in the kitchen nearby. The person behind the camera calls to them once the dog is asleep so they can come and enjoy a little “aww” moment too.
This precious video has racked up a whopping 90 million views!

What’s important is that their sweet moment was caught on camera and will be something the family can cherish and look back on when the baby grows up!
Some might say it’s a lot of responsibility and hard work to raise a baby and a puppy at the same time, but the benefit if that they get up grow up together.
This little one is going to be raised with a very protective, cuddly guard dog at his side.
