It’s always heartbreaking to think about the fact that some dogs are neglected or abandoned, left to fend for themselves on the street. We want to believe all these dogs will get the happy endings they deserve.
Violet the Shar-Pei used to be one of these abandoned animals. But, that was until Whitney Cummings found her and gave her another lease in life.
After being deprived of love and affection for so long, Violet finally found a family in Whitney. The woman’s selfless love for the dog who needed a lot of help touched the hearts of millions online.
The transformation that Violet had to undergo was nothing short of amazing, but it was also heartbreaking for she was in really bad shape when Whitney adopted her. It was really fortunate that Whitney found her and gave her another chance to live.
When Whitney saw Violet, the pup was so skinny that she could feel her bones when she touched her. Violet’s eyes were also filled with dirt and the look she gave everyone was full of sadness.
She was a lonely pup who hasn’t felt love from anyone else.
Seeing Violet in such a helpless state was simply heartbreaking.
Once Whitney had the go signal to bring Violet home, she made sure to bring her to the vet first. In the clinic, she found out that the dog weighed only 19.4 pounds when a pup her age should be weighing 40 to 60 pounds instead. She is severely malnourished and Whitney knew she had to make sure Violet gets to her ideal weight as soon as possible.
Violet’s first week in Whitney’s house was full of adjustment.
Years of neglect and deprivation made Violet suspicious of everyone around her, and that included Whitney who only wanted the dog to be loved.
The amount of attention and affection that the dog was receiving from her new family is overwhelming and new to her. Whitney expected the dog to be wary of her so she made sure to give her nothing but love and care as Violet adjusts in her new home.
One of the most heart-wrenching moments that Whitney shared was when Violet had her first meal in the house.
At first, she was hesitant to dig in but when she started munching on the food, the dog instantly liked it and ate with gusto.
It was also a bittersweet moment when Violet went to his doggie bed for the first time. It was a soft and fluffy bed that was meant to make her feel most comfortable. Her hesitation only showed how she was treated in the past. She was testing the bed as if asking herself “Is this really for me?”
Violet eventually went to bed and enjoyed sleeping in her new home. It was such an emotional moment that Whitney shared online.
Eventually, Violet learned to slowly trust Whitney and her family. She would go to her side and lay down with her. She sometimes sits on the couch and snuggles with her fur Mommy. They were inseparable and Violet has never been this happy.
Whitney has other dogs in the house, too.
They became Violet’s newfound friends whom she runs around and plays with during the day. At night, Violet loves to rest beside Whitney, kissing her and cuddling until both of them fall asleep.
Within two months from adopting Violet, the dramatic change in the dog’s health and overall wellness becomes obvious. She is definitely improving and her bubbly attitude has surfaced. From a scared and lonely pup, Violet has transformed into a healthy and happy doggo.
Whitney has shown Violet so much love and kindness, and it has resulted in Violet transforming into a happy, healthy dog. We’re so glad these two found each other.
