Anyone with a dog knows that they can get a little rambunctious from time to time, and if left on their own they can cause quite a bit of destruction.

While it is usually all in the name of fun, dogs are known to be able to make a bit of a mess.

One pup proved this theory correct when he wasn’t properly latched in his crate overnight and decided to throw himself a party when no one else was around.

Gilligan is the official greeter and mascot for the Bedford County Humane Society where he has lived his whole life.

One night as he was getting locked in his crate while the building was closed, the latch didn’t quite catch and Gilligan was able to get out.

He ran throughout the entire building trying to find someone but quickly realized he was there alone.

As soon as Gilligan realized he had a full run of the place for the night, he knew exactly what he wanted to do.

The search for toys was quickly over as the Humane Society had just recently received a whole bunch of donated toys before the Christmas season.

Gilligan, a squeaky toy lover, went through every new toy to find the kind he loved the best.

This smart pup would pull out each toy one by one to check for a squeak; if he heard it he kept it, if not he tossed it away.

Quickly making his way through the pile, Gilligan then carried his favorite squeakers to all corners of the building and set placed them around in squeaky mountains.

He ran amok all through the night and managed to pull the squeakers out of almost all the toys before an employee showed up to open the place for business.

Joyce Ross was the employee who showed up the following morning to see Gilligan’s new decorations, she was shocked when she entered the building to see shredded toys everywhere.

And did he have any remorse? Absolutely not!

He did a cute ‘happy dance’ when his favorite humans arrived, right there in the messy hallway.

Joyce recorded her progress through the building, and the destruction Gilligan had caused, and posted the video to her TikTok where it has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

While it would have been quite easy for the staff to be upset with Gilligan for what he did, none of them were.

They realized it was their own fault for not double-checking that he was securely locked in his crate, and they honestly believe that he deserved one night of crazy fun freedom.

Gilligan had had a hard life but he always remained a sweet and happy pup, greeting incoming visitors, human and animal alike.

The video of Gilligan sparked tons more donations pouring into the shelter, and one woman even vowed to buy him a new squeaky toy every month for the rest of his life.

While there are dozens of other dogs at the shelter looking for their new forever homes, Gilligan has been officially adopted by the staff at the building and will remain there, as a valued employee, for the rest of his life.

Though things haven’t always been easy for this good boy, he has found his happy place and is surrounded by people that love and care for him exactly like he deserves.
