Cats are loving creatures. Their hearts are blind, and they don’t care whether you’re short, tall, slim or large— they will still give you all the love and cuddles that you’re willing to take.
One shelter cat named Lou was looking for the perfect family to smother with love and care. The sweet kitty was being housed at Lorca Animal Shelter in Spain, and employees described him as “docile” and “affectionate. Still, for some reason, no one seemed interested in taking him home.
But that all changed when Lou met Isa Gonzales Asensio, the mother of a 14-year-old girl with special needs. Isa’s daughter Laura was born with a rare hereditary blood disorder that affects her neurological and physical development.
Laura’s mother was interested in getting a therapeutic pet to help her daughter, and when she laid eyes on Lou, she seemed to immediately know he was the one.
When Lou and Laura first meet, Isa is there to videotape their reactions— and the footage is hands-down one of the most heartwarming things I’ve seen in ages.
Within the first few hours of meeting, Lou and Laura were already in love. The 30-second clip shows a contented Lou cuddling his little girl, while Laura is grinning and smiling from ear to ear. Her arms caress the cat, giving love and gentle pets.
As mentioned, Lou hadn’t had much luck getting adopted from the shelter- but when workers saw the way he comforted and attached to Laura, to them, it all made sense.
The shelter posted Isa’s video to their Facebook page and wrote, “We didn’t understand why Lou couldn’t find a family, being such a docile and affectionate cat. Now we understand everything.”
“He was waiting for Little Laura, that is the name of this wonderful angel, and her mom Isa. Thank you Isa, for opening your heart a little more and giving this opportunity to Lou.”
People who have seen the video, can’t get enough of Laura’s pure-hearted joy coupled with Lou’s complete contentedness.
