Serviceman Brent C. couldn’t have been more excited to be home from deployment.
He could hardly wait to see the happy faces of his loved ones when he stepped off the plane into the airport.
But he was not prepared for what he ended up seeing when he got off that plane.
It was something that brought him to his knees.
He had no idea that his parents planned a big surprise for him.
While Brent knew his parents would be there to greet him when he got off of the plane, he didn’t know that his best friend would be waiting there too.
According to Little Things, that best friend is named Molly.
And Molly just happens to be a dog.
This is why Brent was so surprised to see her since dogs aren’t generally allowed to be in airports unless they are service dogs or emotional support animals.
“When I came home from my last deployment my parents had a surprise in store for me. With the help of some wonderful workers, wherever you are Elizabeth; thank you, at the Detroit Metro Airport they were able to get the ok to bring my dog to the airport to meet me when we got off the plane,” Brent said in a video.
The video of their reunion shows Brent walking up to his happy dog as someone stands by and snaps photos.
Brent drops to his knees to greet his dog.
But it’s clear who is more excited. Molly just couldn’t contain her joy. She was jumping all over the place and giving him lots and lots of kisses.
She then circles him a few times as if to show everyone, “Hey guys, look, he’s home!”
Even though Brent may not have shown as much emotion or excitement on the outside as Molly did, he was definitely happy to see his best friend once again.
“I’ve seen the videos before but never thought it would have been something that would have happened to me (as you can tell by the expression on my face). This was one of the best days of my life and I owe it all to the best parents a guy and his dog could have,” he said.
Everyone around them in the airport was touched to see these two together again.
But they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed this reunion.
The video was shared on YouTube and ended up going viral.
That video ended up being viewed more than 3.7 million times.
“Aww, it is so beautiful that gave me goosebumps that’s just awesome thank you for showing the love and connection between a human and their dog,” wrote one YouTube commenter.
“Heartwarming and unconditional love. How could anyone give this video a thumbs down,” said another.
“Dogs are the best! My dog woke up from his nap when he heard this and came over to growl and bark at the video! Thank you for your service, Sir! You are very much appreciated by many,” and another.
