Some dogs are happy living a pampered life…and then there are the working dogs of the world who thrive on having a job and doing it well.

In a recent viral video, the owner of a special breed of Border Collie gives the world a glimpse into just how serious these dogs are when it comes to taking orders. The confident and capable herding dog that answers to the name, Hank, beams with pride as he stealthfully guides the sheep back to their pen.

You can hear the owner giving Hank specific commands and the clever dog answers with the correct action.

Hank watches the sheep carefully and only looks up at his owner for a split second as if to make sure he is doing a good job. It is obvious that Hank wants to do everything he can to please his owner. What a good dog.

Hank is laser-focused on the task at hand.

Some of the sheep have lambs following along so they are very protective and watchful of Hank as he inches closer to them. Hank is gentle and patient as the lambs come up to greet him. You can hear the owner telling Hank, “Don’t bite that baby.” Hank listens dutifully and continues his job corralling the sheep and lambs.

As they get closer to the pen, the lambs are not too thrilled about navigating the mud.

The sheep seem to be at a standstill while Hank stares them down. Hank’s owner gives a command for him to keep the sheep moving. He knows they aren’t happy about the mud but they need to get going. Hank successfully herds them away from the mud and toward the pen. Bravo!

Talent runs in the family.

The Border Collie breed was originally developed to herd sheep in Scotland and England. They have endless energy, stamina, and drive to work. Their signature ‘stare’ or ‘eye’ is used to control the flock. The dog breed is still used today to herd sheep on farms as well as cows on ranches all over the world. – dogtime.com

According to the owner, each dog has to do their individual job well.

They are related to a long line of border collie cattle dogs that have been superior at working long days and proving themselves in all aspects of ranch work. That isn’t hard to tell when you see the serious look on Hank’s face.
