Twelve-year-old Chihuahua Jaxon loves two things more than anything in the world: his mom Kelli Brown and his green alligator chew toy, Greenie.

“He was adopted from our local shelter on December 8, 2014, and I put one of these toys in his stocking the first year we had him (our other dog got the red version — which was a dragon),” Brown told The Dodo. “And this has just always been the only toy he’s ever played with!”

Since Jaxon plays with this toy so much, it naturally gets a bit of wear and tear. Brown usually replaces the toy twice a year. She’s learned from experience that Jaxon won’t play with any old alligator chew toy—he only likes the Top Paw brand toy.

In February 2018, Brown went to replace Jaxon’s broken toy like usual. But when she got to the pet store, she learned it was discontinued.

Brown knew that Jaxon would be absolutely devastated if he never got to play with Greenie again:

“We have tons of toys in the house, but he only has eyes for his Greenie,” she told The Dodo.

Brown wanted to make her sweet senior dog happy. So, she turned to Twitter for help.

Many Twitter users tried to help Brown. One user sent Brown a link to a similar-looking chew toy.

While Brown was grateful for the help, she knew that Jaxon would only be happy with the Top Paw brand toy. She wrote:

“We’ve tried other green toys over the years, he won’t have anything to do with them. And- there was a red & yellow version of his fave toy (a dragon!)- same size, same fabric, just a different color and no dice. What a weirdo, lol.”

Just when Brown was about to give up hope, a PetSmart employee in Texas named Kendyl Kercho responded to her Tweet. She told Brown that she would check to see if they had any of the toys left in storage.

Kercho searched through the backroom of her store, trying to find any alligators they had left. Finally, she was successful:

“I actually squeaked audibly when I found the clearance toy bin in the back where they were tucked away,” Kercho told The Dodo. “I immediately told my manager, ‘These are the toys I’ve been looking for for my Chihuahua friend in Kentucky!’”

Kercho found eight toys in total, and she quickly packed them in a box and sent them over to Brown. When they arrived, Brown brought Jaxon into the living room and showed him what was inside. He couldn’t believe what he saw!

Brown was just as happy as Jaxon to have the toys. She tweeted:

Thanks to a group of kindhearted Twitter users, Jaxon now has plenty of Greenies to play with. This senior dog is one lucky boy!
