Some people may think cats aren’t capable of showing appreciation or affection, but I think the story below will convince them otherwise.
Senior animals aren’t the most adoptable in the shelter. Most people want a young animal, such as a kitten or a puppy, to bask in their cuteness and/or have a furry friend to grow up with.
Senior pets also aren’t the most appealing if their health is an issue. Vet bills can pile up, and things can get hard.
But the risk is well worth the reward when it comes to older animals. They have a mature love that is so pure and genuine, it will be unlike the love from a younger animal. Just take a look at this senior cat below.
This is Corporal Nobby Nobbs. He is 12 years old and completely deaf, but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest.
Corporal Nobbs is also incredibly affectionate.
He is so grateful for being rescued that he spends every moment showing his forever home how much he loves them every day.
Before being rescued, Nobbs lived in a garage in Texas. There, he was neglected and deprived of love.
At 12 years old, neglect was all Nobbs knew, so he was a little rough around the edges at first. However, beneath the rough exterior was a sweet and loving cat who just wanted someone to love.
When one woman named Karyn Poplin from the Kitty Adventure Rescue League and Sanctuary found Nobbs, it was love at first sight.
He climbed up her legs, cuddled her and held onto her with the most tender love and care.
“From the moment I met him, we have been inseparable. He adores me and my husband (Gerald) and he literally tells us every waking moment,” Karyn told Love Meow.
Just look at that sweet face!
Corporal Nobbs isn’t the only rescue with Karyn and Gerald. The two have saved several special needs, disabled, elderly and otherwise unadoptable felines from the Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas area.
However, the two say Nobbs is different from their other rescues. He is attached at the hip to his saviors, and will not let them leave the room until he meows his love for them.
“He screams, because he has no voice control. He makes air biscuits all day long. He sleeps under the covers, in our arms,” Karyn adds. “He’s the single most affectionate old man I’ve ever, ever come across.”
The years of living alone in confinement are over for Corporal Nobbs. He loves unconditionally and infinitely, and will happily return a cuddle with endless head snuggles.
“He gets along with all the other cats. He’s a breath of fresh air… He’s just so grateful and affectionate I can’t hardly stand it.”
Corporal Nobby Nobbs is there for the good and the bad times. He gives Karyn and Gerald hope in times of hardship.
Sure, he may get a little jealous of other cats, such as if Gerald holds Archmage Shabadoo, but it comes out of a place of love.
Nobbs will still get along with the other cats, provided he gets his snuggles from his favorite humans.
“We take in cats with any existing aliments, those that can be adopted usually find loving homes and those that can’t, live out their lives with us in comfort.”
And Nobbs definitely seems like he’s in bliss, like when he happily welcomes Karyn and Gerald home from work every day.
What wonderful and kind people they are. I am so happy they found Nobbs, and Nobbs found them.
