One rainy day in Scotland, a man left his pooch outside Morrison’s grocery store in Giffnock while he popped in to do a quick shop. But instead of getting rained on, Freddie the dog was introduced to a hero security guard who helped to keep him dry, even sacrificing himself in the process.
The adorable story was posted onto Twitter and caused an instant, ahem, storm.
Security guard Ethan Dearman was identified as the man in the sweet snap, and we think that he deserves a pay rise. Although the man is being rained on himself, he selflessly holds the umbrella over the top of the Labrador, who is looking very happy about the fact that he doesn’t have to sit out in the rain.
Twitter user @MelGracie_ shared the snap onto her page last week with the caption:
“Shout out to this @Morrisons security man keeping this good boy dry. He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain,’ “

The post instantly went viral, and in just a few days it had over 150k likes and 20k retweets. It wasn’t long before people were asking who this incredibly selfless man was.
Amazingly, it turns out that Ethan Dearman, the man himself, had seen the Twitter post and left a reply, saying, “Looks like I made a lot of people happy today.” He certainly did!

But that wasn’t all. The owner of the dog also came forward and gushed about Ethan’s kindness, saying:
“Thanks to security man @dearmanethan for putting the umbrella over Freddie when it started to rain! So kind! He’s always so nice to my brother Stuart, my Dad and our Freddie!”
Then, as if things couldn’t get any better, he shared with us the most adorable snap of Freddie as a puppy. So cute!

Many people took to the comments to praise Ethan, with one person requesting:
“Can this employee be recognised for going above and beyond?”
Someone else added:
“Don’t know him but you just know he’s a nice man.”
A third person suggested that Ethan should get a pay rise. We certainly agree!
It’s small acts of kindness like this that really make our day, and we hope that this selfless security guard gets the recognition that he deserves.
