Working in an office can be interesting. With so many personalities and different kind of people jammed into one room, once in a while, things can get a little tense. But no matter how bad your office gets, I can guarantee you do not have a coworker as mean as Albert.
Meet Albert— or Pompous Albert, to you.
This scowling, curly-furred kitty is the “welcoming” office cat who is giving Grumpy Cat a run for his money. Pompous Albert is owned by Mike and Susan Singleton. The Singletons founded Sagebrush Art, and this is where Pompous Albert spends most of his days, intimidating and glaring at his fellow coworkers.
“He looks like he’s preparing to take over the world,” coworker Deana Pat told Fox13 News.
“We knew he was unique when literally every person who saw him said, ‘Wait, is he real?” said Mike.
Albert is a 9-year-old Selkirk Rex cat. He got his name in honor of Albert Einstein, who he kinda resembles with his crazy, wild hair.
Albert is an internet celebrity, with over 144,000 followers. “He” posts snippets of his day alongside hilariously sarcastic remarks about his job, coworkers, and day-to-day life.
“Eraser heads do look similar to treats. Good one Dave!”
“I’ll be waiting right here for you in the morning Ned.”
“Morning Ned, who’s your little friend? Clearly you didn’t read the employee manual which states…”
“Why am I the only one who takes this job seriously?”
“Staring Monday down like it’s my job.”
Michael told Petcha, “[Albert] is an office cat and his favorite activities would include jumping up onto your desk and pulling on your necklace, biting your hair or pushing stuff off your desk.”
“Even heavy objects,” he adds. “He pushed my big lamp once.”
This past August, Albert caught the eye of a few Hollywood executives and was signed to an LA agent.
“We were surprised,” Mike told Fox 13 News. “When we talk to other people, they get excited about it. Their most common response is, ‘What? A cat?’, and then they see how many Instagram followers he has.”
Most recently, Albert even starred in a Honda commercial, which we’ve included below. Despite Albert’s sinister-looking expressions, the crabby kitty is apparently a real softie at heart. His owner Susan told PEOPLE, “We love how sweet he really is… Don’t tell Albert we used the word sweet.”
