Many people love dogs so much.
For them, dogs are the best. And we are not unaware of the reasons why.
Dogs are loyal and amazing companions. They truly make our lives better and more colorful.
There are times that they are like humans. They are intelligent and they can also be trusted. But did you know that just like us, dogs also know the people who can be trusted?
Canines can also identify if someone is a bad person.
Yes, Science has already confirmed that dogs can identify those people who can’t be trusted. Based on a study headed by Akiko Takaoka of Kyoto University, Japan, dogs can assess if a person is reliable or not.
To conduct the study, they needed to divide the experiment into three parts. 34 dogs were also involved in it.
The experiment
In the first part of it, the dogs were first pointed to a container that had food inside by some experimenters. Since dogs know how to follow human gestures, this study is reliable.
For the next one, the same experimenters pointed the doggo to another container, but this time, it was empty. Of course, the dogs were dismayed that they didn’t find any food from the container.
The final part of the experiment.
This part is a great visualization that dogs know how to recognize the people they can trust based on their observations and own experiences from those people.
With this one, the same experimenters tried to point the dogs to the container again. But the canines ignored them and didn’t respond to their cue.
It’s like they already knew that these experimenters could not be trusted because they had been fooled once.
This result even surprised Takaoka.
“Dogs have more sophisticated social intelligence than we thought. This social intelligence evolved selectively in their long life history with humans.”
So, if you have dogs, you can rely on how they react to strangers.
How could we know if our dogs don’t trust or like a person? According to Wag, dogs’ body language says it all.
You could tell when they bark or growl at someone. It’s also possible when they are head-turning, backing away, or even walking off.
Of course, it’s the opposite when they trust someone.
The way they would look at that person or their body language would also give you hints.
What would you do if you feel that your dogs don’t trust the person you don’t know and suddenly wants to talk to you? Might as well listen to your dogs. Do your best to be away from that person.
But if that person happens to be someone you know and trust, just teach them the ways to gain your pet’s trust.
At the end of the day, dogs would always be loveable.
Once you gain their trust and you made them feel you love them, they can offer their full love to you. And that love is unconditional and incomparable.
