Black bears hanging around near your home is quite unusual, right?

Because bears supposedly prefer to be in the woods and not on your porch.

And since this 12-year-old Schnauzer dog is still not used to seeing bears, he will do his best to protect his “hooman,” which we’re witnessing in this video.

The tense confrontation between the dog named Liebs and the bear was captured by the owner of Liebs in their home located in Minnesota.

It was a sight to see.

But Liebs’s reaction makes perfect sense when we think about the infamous Schnauzer personality.

In a study by Hill’s Pet Website, the standard schnauzer has extraordinary intellect and loyalty but with a lively personality.

These canines are usually considered personal guards and companions. This is because of their bravery and intelligence.

Above all, they’re devoted to family.

And maybe this is the main reason why Leib responded this way to the bear.

You can see how strongly Leib reacted to the black bear in the video.

Then the bear stood up.

When the bear went from standing on four paws to standing on two, Leib backed off.

For one, it’s Bear country.

According to Minnesota’s Department of Natural resources, you live in bear country if you reside in Minnesota.

The black bear is an iconic animal associated with Minnesota’s north woods.

While they are widespread across the state’s forest central and northern regions, they can survive throughout the state, often wandering into cities and towns.
