When Rolo was rescued, he was just four months old.

Once the vets said he was healthy, he was only one step far from adoption.

In the meantime, he was taken in as a foster dog by Tracy, a dog mom of 4, and a rescue advocate, who loved him from the moment they met and was committed to making him feel confident among people and animals.

Over the first few days, he was super shy and anxious about this new environment he was getting into.

Little Rolo had obviously never come in contact with many people at a time, so Tracy tried to be very careful when it came to socializing with him.

His safe place was his crate, and that’s why he spent most of his first days there.

His foster mom never put pressure on him trying to pull him out of it.

They just took it one day at a time, hoping that Rolo would soon feel comfortable enough and get out of his crate.

Indeed, a few days later, little Rolo met his new best friend. It was one of Tracy’s dogs, Lily, and the two got along really well from the beginning.

“When he saw her,” Tracy told The Dodo, “he immediately went up to her and just kept cuddling with her neck.”

Rolo and Lily started going everywhere together.

Or rather, Lily went and Rolo just wouldn’t stop following her everywhere.

That’s when Tracy knew that he’d have a good time in her home and he wouldn’t be scared anymore. Because now had a friend.

Three weeks later, Rolo was a new pup altogether.

He started following Tracy everywhere, he even stopped spending much time in his crate.

In fact, he’d go to Tracy’s bedroom instead.

He even wanted his foster mom to pet him, which made Tracy very happy and confident that he was ready to be adopted.

Soon, a family appeared who wanted to adopt the little pup.

Taylor and her navy family fell in love with the cute dog and were excited to be taking him home.

Her son, Owen, instantly knew they would be best friends.

“I was ready to take him home and start the journey,” Taylor shared with the Dodo. “My son saw the companion immediately, and they got to really bond.”

Indeed, over the last few months, Rolo and Owen have built an unbreakable bond.

The dog has adapted to his new home and Owen has found a new friend in him.

For those who might be wondering why fostering a pet is a good idea, well, here are a few benefits that ASPCA points out.

First of all, fostering means more space in shelters for newly rescued animals.

Also, a good home is a much better environment than a shelter for animals who have been abused in the past.

Additionally, fostering helps these animals be seen by more people and, potentially, to be adopted more quickly.

And, of course, it makes the foster parent’s life much more interesting!
