Being in quarantine can leave us feeling a whole range of emotions.

One minute we’re grateful for the extra time we get to spend with our families, or relishing in the peace of a house to ourselves, but then the next, we’re despairingly lonely and desperately craving the attention of anyone who isn’t a family member.

Well, it turns out us humans aren’t the only ones who are going through it at the minute. Apparently dogs are also facing their struggles, as this hilarious photo shows.

Rae Elle, a 38-year-old costume designer and dog mama from Atlanta, shared this adorable pic of her bulldog, Big Poppa, onto Twitter with the caption:

“Big Poppa has been so sad today, I think he miss playing with the kids in the building. He just watches them from the patio.”

The sad little guy is only three years old and is usually a social butterfly. He loves playing with the children in Rae’s building, and whenever his mom takes him to film sets, he wanders about making sure that he’s said hello to each and every actor.

Judging by the look of utter despair on his little face, Big Poppa is certainly missing these moments now.

Rae told Buzzfeed News:

“When he’s inside, he just walks out to the patio looking for people. He’s sleeping more. He’s a little sluggish. I can tell he’s not as happy and excited as he usually is. He’s probably tired of just me playing with him.”

Now that Pop can’t see his friends, he spends a lot of time moping around the house. Rae has tried her best to lift his spirits but the little guy just can’t crack a smile. It must be so confusing for him not knowing why he’s not allowed to go out anymore!

Rae was working from home one afternoon when she noticed Pop on her balcony looking down wistfully at some children who were playing together in the yard. She told Buzzfeed News:

“He kept making noises to get their attention, but we’re six stories up and they can’t hear him. I was like, Oh my god, he’s really sad.”

Rae decided to get her camera out and snap a picture of Pop, and when she posted it onto Twitter it immediately went viral with over 829,000 likes and thousands of retweets.

It was even shared by celebrities such as Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Ellen DeGeneres, who shared the pic with the caption, ‘Stay inside. Flatten this curve. Do it for Big Poppa.’

Elle has some wise words about why her picture has become so popular.

“I think when people look at that photo, we can all relate right now. We can’t do the things that we used to do, we can’t hang out with our friends. I think it just happened to be this dog — and not only is he so sad and cute and you want everything to change for him, but you want everything to change for yourself, too, because we’re all in this situation.”

Too right! Hang on in there Big Pop, it’s a bumpy road but we’re all going to get through it.
