No matter how much of an introvert someone is, being in lockdown is going to take its toll. It’s just not that easy to stay inside and avoid socializing, especially when the weather gets nice. But as hard as it may be, we still have to follow the rules to keep our communities safe. That doesn’t mean everyone has to be happy about it.
It’s obvious that people are having a hard time with the lockdown. But what about pets? Animals are struggling, too. That’s especially true for super sociable animals.
That’s the case for Big Poppa the Bulldog
There’s one pup that’s not too happy about the quarantine — Poppa the Bulldog. This little guy is usually really social. So, he’s not having the best time being locked up inside of the house.
He’s only three years old
This dog lives with his owners in Atlanta, Georgia. And at just three years old, he loves to go outside to play. And one of the best places for that is in the courtyard of the apartment building where he lives.
But Big Poppa has to stay home
While this dog may get to go for walks, he can’t socialize with people in the neighborhood like he’s used to doing. His owner, Rashida Ellis, said it’s been difficult for him. That’s when she decided to capture his expression to show how difficult it’s been on him.
Ellis snapped a heartbreaking picture
In this picture, you can see Big Poppa standing on a sixth-floor balcony. He can hear kids playing down below in the courtyard but he can’t go play with him. With that look on his face, you can tell he’s incredibly sad.
She explained Big Poppa’s bad mood
According to Ellis, “[The sadness] started during the lockdown because Pop would usually go outside and play with some of the children in the courtyard every day and also multiple people would pet him when we walk. Ever since the lockdown, none of this happens and he tries to get their attention from the patio, but ends up defeated.” Everyone can sympathize with Big Poppa on that one.

Let’s be honest…the expression on Big Poppa’s face is pathetic. So, Ellis had to share the photo on social media. From there, it really blew up.
Everyone fell in love with Big Poppa
While we’re all missing something different in quarantine, just about everyone can sympathize with the way Big Poppa is feeling. That’s probably why the picture made its rounds on the internet. In just one day, it garnered over 650,000 likes, on Twitter alone.
He’s doing fine
While you might be worried about Big Poppa, he’s doing just fine. His owner found a way to cheer him up. She says it helps him to sing songs and dance, go on extra walks, and even snack on more treats than usual.
The internet shows their love
While it’s sad to see an unhappy dog, the internet came together to show their love for this pup. Everyone wants to make sure he’s doing okay. It just goes to show how we can all come together in a crisis, even if it’s just for a sad Bulldog.
A bright spot
This is a tough time for everyone but seeing a sweet dog like Big Poppa can help lighten things up. It’s a reminder this pandemic will end eventually. Sometime soon, we can all go out and play in the courtyard again…or whatever it is you’re missing.
