Nothing breaks my heart more than abandoned dogs do. There’s just something with the fact that their world revolves around their humans, and suddenly the very people they trust leave them all alone.

A woman named Charlene found a poor pittie who couldn’t seem to walk. So she decided to step in and help the poor dog.

She was obviously in pain.

“We got her back to our shelter and found out that her pelvis had been shattered,” Charlene recalled. “She couldn’t walk. We were concerned that maybe she was gonna be paralyzed. The poor girl was just going through so much pain.”

The dog was in obvious pain that it was too heartbreaking to watch.

She eventually named the dog Willow.

“When I got down on her level, it helped her understand that ‘I’m down here with you. I’ll be here by your side,'” she shared.

Fortunately, she didn’t end up paralyzed. Instead, the little warrior was able to stand up and walk after just a couple of weeks into recovery.

The whole shelter jumped for joy.

“What the power of love can do is crazy,” Charlene remarked. Indeed, love is the most healing thing in the world.

Over the days of being with Willow, it was easy for everyone to see how sweet of a dog she is. She is just so easy to love. Despite everything she has gone through, she still manages to give out so much love.

However, it was challenging to find a foster.

It was largely because of her condition. People didn’t know what to expect and were mostly scared because they might not know how to take care of Willow.

Until one day, a particular couple took interest and were determined to take care of the sweet pittie.

The couple fostered Willow.

“I don’t think we could have ever asked for a better family for her,” Charlene fondly said.

“We weren’t sure how long we would have Willow,” her foster mom said. “But we knew we were just gonna help her get to the next step in her recovery.”

It was a match made in heaven.

Fortunately, Willow had another dog with her in her new home. She was initially shy, but she eventually stepped up and made friends with the other dog.

In fact, they even love swimming together! Willow turned out to really adore being in the water. What’s even greater is that being in the water helped strengthen her back legs. It was the perfect exercise!

She recovered quickly.

“It was probably two or three weeks of us fostering her when we realized there was no way we could ever not have her in our home,” Willow’s dad said. What initially was a foster home for the dog turned out to be her forever home.

And because of her family’s love, Willow has now completely recovered. She now enjoys running and swimming around! Indeed, it’s amazing what love can do.
