A wild sloth and a beagle have formed an unusual relationship. One that has viewers and animal lovers smiling and tearing up. These two are now the best of friends and are inseparable.
It all began when a sloth named Chuwie was rescued by a Venezuelan couple. Juan Carlos and Haydee found the poor animal electrocuted on a power line. Haydee and Juan Carlos knew the sloth wouldn’t survive without their help.
Juan told The Dodo, “Chuwie was absolutely terrified and had no idea what was going on.”
Chuwie the sloth was then rescued after being badly burned by the power lines. The beagle called Seven, is part of a pack of dogs living with the couple. Seven really wanted to be friends with Chuwie.
Juan Carlos and Haydee took the wild sloth to a veterinarian and soon learned that he could survive with treatment. Chuwie however did have some severe burns.
So the couple decided to follow the vet’s treatment plan. That allowed them to give Chuwie the best chance at surviving.
While Chuwie was resting and recovering, Seven the beagle grew increasingly interested in the wild sloth and soon, the dog began following Chuwie around.
The beagle’s patience soon paid off with lots of snuggles and scritches from the sloth.
Unfortunately, Chuwie can never be released back into the wild. His injuries make it too risky for him, but at least he found a job welcoming other sloths and beagles that arrive.
And it’s probably better for the sloth to remain under the couple’s care.
The beagle and sloth’s friendship grew the way human friendships develop.
They both had shared interests so the journey for Seven and Chuwie’s friendships was really intriguing. Watch the video and you’ll see the beagle bring toys for the sloth to play with.
Seven even tries to eat leaves. Something the sloth spends much of his day doing.
They have really formed a deep bond. They’re now the best of friends!
A viewer named y yg commented, “The way they interact is the CUTEST thing I’ve ever seen. The way the sloth pets her and she licks his hands. I had no idea sloths were so social and loving.”
By the way, You can keep up with Chuwie and Seven on Instagram. Follow @chuwieelgalan and @tropabeagle for more cuteness!
It’s so touching watching Seven make all the effort to befriend the sloth. Sure, the dog is way more agile and definitely faster, but Seven’s heart is in a different place here.
The dog wants nothing but to be friends with Chuwie and that’s why she puts in the effort.
Chuwie is obviously very happy and relaxed with his new friend. And who wouldn’t be with such an adorable and affectionate dog?
The couple have decided to keep the sloth, even making him the ambassador to help educate the public on sloths.
