When a fawn and a bear cub met for the first time, it was certainly a moment worthy of being on camera. While baby animals are much more trusting than adults, there’s no knowing how two totally different species are going to react when they first meet, and there is potential for things to go very wrong.
But luckily, Boog the bear cub doesn’t yet have a violent bone in his body, and he greets his new deer friend with hesitant curiosity.
The sweet video was shared onto YouTube by DailyPicksandFlicks, along with the caption:
“Boog the bear cub was surprised to see a baby deer standing in his living room. He cautiously went up to to her and tried to be friendly with her. She buffered his attempts, but she eventually warmed up to his curiosity.”
It has now been viewed over 4.7 million times by people all over the world, and it’s safe to say that everybody fell in love with these two little animal pals.
We’re not given much context into why both a fawn and a bear cub are currently living in someone’s house – but we can only assume that this man rescues wild animals and cares for them until they’re able to go back out into the world again.
In the video, Boog the bear can be seen hesitantly approaching the fawn, with a mingled sense of curiosity and fear. He puts his paws out tentatively as if to touch the baby deer, before getting up on his hind legs.
In his fearful state, we think that this was Boog’s attempt of looking bigger – but the poor little guy still doesn’t quite reach the height of the foal.
“Here’s Boog again, checking out the brand new fawn we got,” the man narrates. “He doesn’t know what to make of it.”
As Boog becomes more confident, he begins to get closer to the fawn. And then the most adorable moment happens: as he raises himself up onto his two back legs, he leans forwards, and gives the fawn a sweet kiss on her nose!
Now, this isn’t the kind of kiss you give to your elderly aunt.
Boog’s kiss is seriously loving, and even includes a few licks! It’s more like the way our dog would greet us after a long day at work.
Naturally, people couldn’t get over the adorable moment between Boog and the foal, and many took to the YouTube comments to express their love for the video:
“I think he’s skipping the friendzone and aiming directly for relationship. I mean damn, kissing right away? You go bear!”
Many people also made jokes about the relationship between the bear and the deer:
Disney seeing this: “WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!!!”
“Oh deer, that cuteness is hard to bear.”
