Dogs, known for their social nature and pack mentality, are especially true for German Shepherds.
These intelligent and emotional creatures are often seen in roles such as K-9 officers, border patrol, and military dogs.
Their remarkable qualities make them stand out, and it’s no wonder they’re so beloved.
Meet Gus and Laurie, two German Shepherds whose story has touched hearts across the internet.
These two have been inseparable since they were found at just three months old, taking shelter in a stranger’s barn.
Now at seven months, they’ve been taken in by Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue in Stephens City, Virginia.
Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue shared on their Facebook page, “They’ve only ever known each other.”
“They were found as strays at three months old and have since lived in someone’s barn.”
“They’re around 7 months old now and we are so hopeful that we can find someone to keep these two together. If you’re looking for a bonded pair, look no further.”
The internet has fallen in love with Gus and Laurie, thanks to the heartwarming pictures shared by the rescue.
These images, shared over 16,000 times on Facebook, showcase the deep bond between the two.
Gus, the protector, and Laurie, the shy one, demonstrate the profound emotions and attachments dogs can form.
Their story has sparked a wave of interest, with many people eager to adopt them.
However, the rescue is first ensuring that Gus and Laurie are comfortable with children and cats.
They shared, “We have had an overwhelming response to this post. If you are interested in Gus and Laurie please apply at shenandoahrescue.org/adoption-process.
These pups are pending cat and kid testing and have arrived to their foster in Virginia.”
The shelter is firm on one condition: Gus and Laurie must be adopted together.
They stated, “The adoption fee is $325 each. They must be adopted together.
They just arrived to their foster today in northern Virginia so we don’t know much about them yet.
They are not aggressive but are in need of socialization.”
While it’s unclear if Gus and Laurie are full German Shepherds or a mix, their story has certainly captured the attention of many.
Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue expressed their gratitude, “We haven’t made a ‘Thank you’ post in a while and given tonight’s events of Gus and Laurie being shared by some crazy big pages, I just wanted to say thank you to all of our followers.”
The rescue’s journey has been remarkable, having helped over 350 dogs find homes in just 10 months.
They’ve worked tirelessly, rescuing dogs from various states and even countries, ensuring each one finds a warm, loving home.
Gus and Laurie’s story is a beautiful reminder of the love and companionship dogs can bring into our lives.
