When Marisa Elbert adopted a pit bull named Maisy she was looking for a new companion to inject some happiness into her life.
She just didn’t expect that companion to be so chatty.
But Maisy is, very chatty. They talk all day long. If Marisa asks Maisy something, Maisy responds with a “wooooooooo” kind of howl.

“Maisy’s wooing is something that made me adopt her,” Marisa told The Dodo. “She does it when she’s extremely happy or excited. She’s so happy we chat all the time.”

Maisy’s mom says that Maisy always has something to say. In fact, they chit chat throughout the whole day.
Maisy’s vocalness might be due to being so lonely before she met her mom.
“She was living in a backyard for three years in a kennel,” Maris explained. “Just outdoors, neglected. They pretty much ignored. They only brought her out to try and breed her but she never got pregnant.”

Even though Maisy was in perfect health, her previous owners planned to put her down just because they couldn’t make money off of breeding her, and feeding her would cost them money.
They figured she was too ugly for anyone to want to buy her.
Thankfully, a family friend took pity on Maisy and brought her to an animal rescue.

That’s when fate stepped in to unite Marisa and Maisy.
Marisa was suffering from loss and needed some comfort.
And Maisy needed someone to give her love to. They were a perfect match.

“My girlfriend tagged me in a photo of her because I just put down my 13-year-old pit bull and I had also lost my dad and then the next year my mom,” Marisa explains. “I really believe that she was sent to me from my parents and Koia [her previous dog].”
Maisy was overjoyed as soon as she knew she had a forever home.

“The first day when I brought her home, we went down the driveway and I threw some balls for her and, I mean, she was woo-ing on the way up and woo-ing on the way down. She was just so happy.”
It took Maisy a little while to get used to living in a house after being alone in the backyard for so long.

“She was kind of shell shocked to be in a house, everything was so new to her and she was just kinda like ‘huh?'”
She would just sit there super happy chewing away on her new toys and was shocked when mom would throw her another toy right after the last one.
She didn’t know that toys existed in the first place let alone lots and lots of them. Seeing Maisy so happy with simple pleasures brought much joy to Marisa.

“I mean she gave me something that I was needing. I needed something to cheer me up, I needed something to reassure me that I wasn’t alone. And this dog, she just came in and brightened everything up.”

Maisy would spring into action when she would see Marisa feeling a little down.
Her go-to move is “smashing” her face into mom’s and then covering it with kisses.
“She just knew how to make everything OK.”

And Maisy also got along with everyone else on Marisa’s farm including a big cat and two horses. Maisy thinks the horses are the greatest things ever.
She likes to give them nose kisses and sometimes ends up sleeping in their stalls.
Life is just a lot better for everyone in Marisa’s household now that Maisy’s with them.

“Since Maisy has been in my life she has pretty much transformed it. She brings just this new perspective to everything of just happiness. Everything is fantastic she makes life just so much brighter and there’s humor to it,” Marisa explained. “She put up with enough and just seeing everything through her perspective is just how you would want to live. My parents would go nuts for her”
