Nuka grew up in a house with all sorts of different animals.

And they are all smaller than him.

His siblings include gerbils, rats, rabbits, birds, cats, and even a rooster.

So, he’s adopted a gentle demeanor so he can take care of the little ones around him.

“Our vet said, when he was younger, that he was wise beyond his years … because he’s generally so placid and relaxed,” Nuka’s mom Nicole Yates told The Dodo.

Yates decided to add yet another addition to her home when a local pet shop was trying to find emergency homes for their animals because of the coronavirus shut down.

This time she adopted a grey and white rat named Blue.

Blue was a little nervous in his new home. But Nuka quickly stepped up to comfort his new sibling. The two seemingly unlikely friends immediately hit it off.

“There was this immediate clear connection between Blue and Nuka compared with my other rats,” Yates said. “It was more so Blue who seemed to adore Nuka! He loved snuggling into Nuka’s fur and if I put him down on the floor he would run to find Nuka.”

Blue found Nuka’s fur extremely comforting. It’s like his own super soft cozy nest.

Sweet Nuka tries his best to sit perfectly still if he sees his little brother fast asleep on him.

He will do anything to make sure he isn’t disturbing Blue’s sleep. He also likes to cover his little brother with lots and lots of kisses.

“Blue is a very placid rat so he’s really happy just being with Nuka and laying there with him, either snuggled into his mane or at his belly,” Yates said. “Nuka likes to bathe Blue with licks, which Blue doesn’t seem to mind either.”

Sometimes Blue will get a little spunky and use his big brother Nuka as a jungle gym or obstacle course.

Nuka, being the sweet boy that he is, doesn’t mind one bit.

Nuka’s smaller siblings are never scared of how big their brother Nuka is.

Yates trained Nuka to lie down when a tiny one enters the room so he could learn to gently play with them.

“I’ve always had a variety of small animals so Nuka was socialized with them all from a very young age. I taught him to lay down and be calm when I’d bring one out for him to meet,” Yates said on Instagram.

I also had an older shepherd at the time who helped show him to be kind. I got her when she was 10-years-old but still managed to socialize and train her to be kind to them all. Very smart dogs.”

Nuka is the best brother anyone could ever have.

All his younger siblings look up to him. And so do their Instagram followers, as Nuka has his very own Instagram page.

But of course, he’s such a good boy that he shares his page with his brothers and siblings.

The page is called nuka.and.co.

It’s got more than 6,000 followers who love watching this colorful lot. Especially, Nuka and his adorable relationship with Blue.
