When people don’t get what they want, they give one of two reactions: they either accept it and move on, or they throw a tantrum until the person they whine to relents and gives them what they want.

Now, one reaction is a healthier response than the other, but sometimes one can’t help but indulge in the whiner’s request because they are just so gosh darn cute.

Especially when the whiner is a cute little puppy with beadiest little eyes I’ve ever seen.

Meet little Napoleon, a mixed breed rescue puppy.

When Napoloen’s foster mom told him he cannot sit in her lap in the car, Napoleon didn’t take it so well.

In fact, he refused to take no for an answer.

First, he begins shuffling in his seat, followed by little whimpers until it escalates into full-blown whines.

The way he stomps his little paws and peeks at his foster mom to make sure his pleas are working is too cute! Watch out, Napoleon is a heartbreaker in the making!

But his foster mom refuses to back down as the car sits unmoving in a McDonald’s parking lot. But with over 3 million views on YouTube, many others would have given in immediately:

Napoleon’s mixed breed is unclear, though it is speculated he either has some Corgi or Dachshund in him.

With this tantrum display, you may be wondering: why do dogs love riding in the car so much? Here are two possible theories.

According to Stanley Coren, a dog behaviorist at the University of British Columbia, dogs could love car rides due to their sharp sense of smell.

Dogs have an astounding 225 million olfactory receptacles in their noses, compared to just 50 in humans. No wonder they can smell your delicious burger even when you just parked your car in the driveway.

But trainer Kevin Behan presents another theory. He thinks dogs love car rides because of the way they are evolved to hunt. Dogs hunt by their feelings, and when riding in a car, they feel weightless. This triggers their hunting senses, making them excited because hunting is what they were evolved to do.

Regardless, no words can properly describe how cute it is to look out the window and see a dog sticking their head out the car window with their tails wagging, ears flopping and tongues hanging out.

Except for little Napoleon. He’ll have to wait until he’s a little older and bigger before he can sit in his foster mom’s lap.
