Earlier this month, an adorable Corgi named Zira went completely viral after her hilarious reactions to a Target shopping trip were uploaded online to Instagram.
Zira, a 4-month-old Corgi and Mini Aussie mix, became a viral celebrity after her excited expressions to a Target shopping trip were uploaded to her zirathecorgi Instagram account. The internet quickly fell in love with the adorable pup, and her photos were picked up by various social media platforms and major news networks.
Zira’s owners, Jesse and Kasey, also submitted the photos to the Love What Matters Facebook page, where they gush, “My dog went to Target— and look how happy she is!”
“Zira’s a 4 month-old Corgi and Mini Aussie mix and is in love with anything she can chew!” they continue. “She’s a very social dog who loves to play with her friend, Poppy, the pit bull. Car rides are her favorite—she loves to go meet new friends. We spontaneously decided to go to Target yesterday morning, and took Zira. She absolutely loved it! Zira got new treats and a toy. While we were turning a corner, this woman shopping saw her and freaked out! She couldn’t stop going on and on about how cute Zira was. Zira just started licking her, and the woman loved it. She even picked Zira up and let her kiss her face! She kept telling us what a beautiful and sweet dog, Zira is. Just another day of Zira spreading love and joy to the world… She loves meeting new people and getting attention!”
In an interview with Kion News Channel 5, Jesse explains, “We always wanted to gain a following on Instagram. And we got about 2,000 followers but we had no idea that it would blow up like this.”
“It was just a spontaneous trip, and we took her. And she was at the end of the car with a huge smile on her face.”
When the puppy parents returned home, they posted Zira’s shopping photos to Instagram, and people went completely wild. Within a few short days, Zira’s Instagram account bulged to 42,000 followers. “At a point, I just had to shut my phone off because it was becoming too much,” Kasey told Kion News.
Although most people were enamored with Zira’s human-like expressions, the photos did draw controversy from critics who noted that Target only allows service dogs to be in their stores. Jesse and Kasey issued an apology and have since begun spreading awareness about pets only being allowed in pet-friendly stores, like Marshall’s and Pet Smart.
