Different breeds of dogs have different energy levels. For example, German shepherds are full of energy and so need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. On the other hand, a breed such as a Basset hound is more laid back and doesn’t need as much interaction daily.

Some breeds also suffer from separation anxiety. Take goldendoodles for instance, this breed is known to develop separation anxiety if away from their owner for too long. However, one mini goldendoodle owner found a clever way to interact with his dog using a Ring cam.

Ring and other home security companies offer homeowners an easy way to monitor and protect their homes from potential thieves, in addition to its popular doorbell cameras. As a part of this protection, Ring, like many home security companies offers cameras that can be used inside of a home.

The tendency of Goldendoodles to develop separation anxiety when their owners are not around can lead to destructive behavior on their part. So, when Scott he got a mini-goldendoodle, named Bella, he knew that he needed to do something to monitor his new puppy. For this purpose, he got a Ring camera.

In a video, Scott can be heard calling out Bella’s name. The curious puppy runs into the living room, looking for her dad. She knows he is somewhere about. Looking around the room, she tries to figure out where he is hiding.

In the video of the incident, Scott calls out to her once again, “Bella, where were you? Are you getting in trouble?”

A very smart dog, Bella figures out pretty quickly where the voice is coming from, or at least the general area. As she moves closer to the camera, Scott calls out to her again, telling her he will be coming home soon.

It is at this point that she figures out where Scott’s voice is coming from. You can see her get up near the camera, giving it a look. Was her owner in there somewhere?

“I thought it was pretty cute how she was looking for me and then found the camera I was speaking to her from,” Scott said.

Soon, she is licking the camera and giving her dad plenty of wet, doggie kisses. Viewers of the video loved the little puppy’s actions.

Fortunately, this arrangement works for Bella and Scott. Some viewers even commented how while they thought it was a great idea to use a home security camera in this way, they wouldn’t be able to get any work done since they would be talking to their dog all day.

In many cases, you don’t even need a Ring camera to help your dog deal with their separation anxiety. Some other ways to help keep a goldendoodle or other dog calm while you are not home including the following.

Setting up a safe zone where your dog can relax and be distracted from destructive behavior. This can include a room with a comfortable bed, water, and some toys. Use pet gates in the doorway, one stacked on top of the other, to keep your pest from feeling like they are closed off.

Exercise your pet when you are at home, either in the morning, after work, or both. This should be at least 40 to 60 minutes of hearty exercise, such as walking, running, or play. You can also talk to your vet about other ways you can help your dog if they get separation anxiety.
