Reporting the weather might seem like an easy task but it’s not. Along with dealing with treacherous conditions outside, it’s fairly common for reporters to face some unexpected events. You’ve probably seen it happen, you know, where some bystander decides they need to be in the shot?

Well, for one weatherman, that same thing happened… sort of. While doing his job, something occurred he wasn’t expecting. But in this case, it was super adorable rather than obnoxious.

A cold icy day

As he’d done so many times in the past, one reporter stood outside in frigid conditions to report the weather to Northern Virginia viewers. Watching the broadcast, you can see the skies are cloudy and the road surfaces slick. But without missing a beat, he gives a stellar report.

Passing the mic

At the start of the video, a female reporter dressed in a bright blue coat is reporting from one location. When she finishes, she passes the segment off to her male counterpart who’s at a different spot. Seamless so far.

Cancun, anyone?

You can tell he’s cold but he boldly proceeds to give his report. With his hands stretched outward, he tells viewers they could dream of going to Cancun. On a blustery day like that, his words probably struck home for a lot of people wishing they could escape the bitter cold.

Moving on

As the split-screen becomes one, the reporter switches from talking about the weather to taking a trip to Mexico and then onto the problem with ice scrapers. He then gives a short demonstration as to why clearing ice off windshields is so hard. Yep, he’s a true professional.

Who’s that?

While the reporter is talking, you can hear a different man calling out to him from off to the side. At that moment, the camera person turns his focus on this stranger. In a comical twist, the man whips out money and tells the reporter he’ll pay him to clean off his car.

All for a good laugh

With a new split-screen that shows an anchorman back at the station, the reporter continues to joke around. First, he shows all the cars that need their windshields cleaned followed by using the scraper as a back scratcher. Second, he informs everyone that he’s not going to Cancun but without the stranger.

Another unexpected event

Okay, so the man got his 15 minutes of fame but this reporter was about to experience something else out of the ordinary. Just as he’s explaining that people have to let their dogs outside to do their business, out comes the most adorable puppy. It runs full speed toward the reporter.

Part of the report

Concerned for the puppy’s safety, he immediately gets down on his knees to prevent it from getting away. As the pup squirms loose of his grip, the reporter drops his ice scraper to try to grab the dog. At that moment, he says, “I don’t see an owner.”

Got her

Although the puppy is wearing a green color, there doesn’t seem to be anyone around that owns her. So, the reporter again gets hold of the pup. But this time, he does something different that melts everyone’s heart.

His new sidekick

Holding the puppy safely in his arms, he continues to report the weather. But now, he has the cutest sidekick of all. He then says, “I have a couple of businesses going, dog sitting…,” which was a reference to the $20 the neighbor gave him to scrape the ice off his car’s windshield.
