One can never forget where they came from.
No matter where we find ourselves in, whether in a better life or a better position, we can all agree that we cannot get there unless we acknowledge where we came from.
It is with this kind of remembrance that we find within ourselves the power to help those who are in the same place we once lived. Quite astonishingly, this kind of attitude is not only present in humans but in dogs as well.
Lana, an 8-month-old puppy was rescued from the streets.
Together with her siblings, they were taken off the dangers of the streets and were eventually adopted. Lana was given a forever home by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé.
From then on, Lana lived a life that was different from what she was used to. From the harshness of the streets, she enjoys the comforts of a warm bed, tasty and nutritious food, and a loving family.
But despite these comforts, Lana didn’t forget what it was like to have nothing.
The weather was slowly becoming chilly in the region where Lana lives. To make Lana comfortable, Schaumloeffel bought a thick blanket so her dog can stay warm and cozy all throughout the season.
Or at least that was what Schaumloeffel thought would happen. Little did she know, her dog was gifted with a sense of empathy especially toward other dogs like she once was.
The next morning, Schaumloeffel’s fiancé discovered something as he left for work.
The blanket that they bought for Lana was not in her dog house. Rather, he found it on the fence with half of it draped outside the streets.
As they inspected what was happening, they were not ready for what Lana had in store for them. It was the moment they realized they have adopted a very special dog indeed.
Lana was lying on half of the blanket, and a stray dog was sleeping on the other.
As the weather turned cold the night before, Lana decided to share the blessings that she was enjoying. Schaumloeffel said to The Dodo that she has actually seen the other dog the day before.
She tried to help the dog but it kept on running away whenever she tried approaching it. Fortunately, Lana connected with him enough that they became friends.
Schaumloeffel was touched by how Lana acted.
“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend,'” Schaumloeffel tells The Dodo. “My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”
The couple still sees the dog every now and then but he still runs away whenever any one of them tried to get close.
They have been trying to see if the dog has an ID. They hope to return him to his owner if they find out if he’s lost. In the meantime, they have been leaving out some food and water for Lana’s friend.
“She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met,” Schaumloeffel says to The Dodo. “We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.”
Watch how this dog showed that she never forgot where she came from.
