The little puppy obviously loved that tiny bunny. He was constantly by his side like a best friend would be. He was even grooming the bunny (who didn’t even flinch one bit).

A few moments later, the puppy started to get sleepy.

His head was bobbing, and he was already leaning down to sleep. But look what the little bunny did! He went near the puppy to catch his head as he fell asleep.

The two snuggled into a nap – cuteness overload! You could even see how the puppy wrapped his paws around the rabbit as they fell asleep. We bet you would want to cuddle up next to them.

Even when the bunny was eating, his clingy best friend was right nearby.

He was eating fruits and vegetables with another bunny, but the adorable puppy stood beside them. We could only assume that he was probably waiting for them to finish their snacks so he could play with his bestie again.

Everyone adored the unlikely yet lovely duo. These two made a lot of people’s day when they saw this. While most people expressed their joy, others were surprised how the bunny wasn’t even scared of the dog.

Well, they are not the only two odd animal friendships on the internet.

We’ve seen the friendship of a rhino and a goat or the adorable BLT (bear-lion-tiger) trio. We always thought of these as odd animal friendships, but science says this is normal.

Biologists have been studying these “odd” pairings, and it turned out it is out of necessity.

According to a group of ethologists led by Konrad Lorenz, different animals go together and become “friends” for survival reasons like hunting for food and caring after birth. At the same time, some suggested that it is merely the animals’ need for companionship.

While this is true, other scientists remain skeptical about the companionship part.

Arizona State University Psychology professor Clive Wynne said that most of these viral videos showing cross-species friendships are all “in a human-controlled environment” and that such pairings may not happen if they were out in the wild.

The push and pull of expert opinion would boil down to more research.

College of William and Mary Anthropologist Barbara J. King suggests that more research should be done regarding cross-species interactions. She believed that past studies were good starting points, but the database is so small that it is impossible to extract patterns from it.
