Lauren Maners describes her pregnancy as a “difficult” one that caused her to suffer from “extreme sickness.”
She was having her baby at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was quite nerve-wracking.
So, she decided to take a break from fostering and rehabilitating animals to focus on her family and pregnancy. But that changed when she met a beautiful green-eyed pregnant cat named Dove.

“I and my husband found Dove extremely skinny and injured on the side of the road. I attempted to find her owners and then was informed that she was a stray and had been eating out of a dumpster of a nearby cafe for over a year,” Maners told Bored Panda. “All of our no-kill shelters were full and I couldn’t just leave her knowing that she was going to have to take care of her babies in the wild.”

Maners said she also felt a connection to the kitty as they were both pregnant.
So, she coaxed the cat into her arms with some leftover food.
They brought Dove to the vet and later to their home. The very same day Maners had vowed to no longer foster, she found herself with another foster.

One that would soon require her to foster even more kittens.
But Maners found having another pregnant companion to be comforting.
“She would follow me around everywhere I went, and loved sitting outside with me in the mornings in our fenced-in area and letting me rub her belly while we ate breakfast together,” Maners told The Dodo.

Maners used her social media account to hilariously document the progress of her and Dove’s pregnancy.
“Had an exclusive Pregnant Girls Club meeting with my newest rescue, Dove. Does anyone want to guess who’s going to pop first?” asked Lauren her Instagram followers.

As it turns out, no one won that bet because both mamas ended up giving birth on the very same day! When Maners got home from the hospital after having her daughter Kylie, she realized Dove had six kittens.
“They were very possibly born at the same time,” Maners said.
Maners couldn’t believe the coincidence and was happy her daughter would have some playmates that were her age.

“When my daughter was 5 weeks old, she began to notice the kittens when I would carry her in there with them to help me feed them and give them some attention,” Maners said. “The kittens were also very curious about my daughter as well.”

Once the baby kittens were old enough, Maners found homes for all six babies and their mamma.
Maners had bonded so closely with the kitten family that she was glad that some of the kittens and Dove were adopted by her friends.

“Luckily the mother cat went to live with a friend of mine, so I am still able to get updates on her, and several of the babies went to people I know as well, so I have even been able to visit them,” Maners said.
Isn’t this such a sweet story?
