Cooking isn’t easy, especially when you have guests to prepare for. Perfecting a pasta dish can be quite a daunting task. Some chefs can only hope to get better with time.
For Jordan Cahill this was no problem. He had long ago mastered the art of pasta making, and he was enjoying his meals while living in Brisbane, Australia. He cooked often – for himself and for his guests – but one night something wasn’t right.
The man made up a big dish of pasta for the guests he expected to see that evening. It must have been a delicious meal, at least good enough to attract some unwanted attention.
Jordan finished mixing the pasta then he poured it into a serving dish. He had left a few scraps in the bowl, which he decided he would worry about later. He left his kitchen for just a moment, but one moment was all this uninvited guest needed.
When Jordan came back to his preparing dish, he saw something completely unexpected. A wild possum had snuck into his house and was eating his food!
Jordan was completely shocked. He knew that wild animals sometimes picked up the food remnants humans left behind. But he never imagined that a possum could have such a refined taste for Italian cuisine.
The fact that the possum was eating the pasta wasn’t even the most startling part. This little guy was actually holding a spoon! He used the utensil to round up all the scraps in the bowl, and he munched down every last bite.
Jordan just couldn’t believe it. “My Initial reaction was, ‘Oh my God, he’s using a spoon!’ followed by quickly grabbing my camera for evidence,” he shared with The Dodo.
Even when Jordan had his camera out, this possum wasn’t shy. He kept his spoon in hand and he continued to linger near the bowl, probably hoping for more pasta. This was one feisty furry friend.
Jordan got his video evidence, and the best part was that the possum didn’t ruin his dinner plans. “Thankfully we had already made the pasta,” the man explained. “He was just finishing off the scraps.”
The possum must really like Jordan’s kitchen because he has been spotted there more than once. Getting away with his food snatching has encouraged this little fellow to come back again and again.
“We’ve found him in the kitchen a few times taking fruit out of the bowl,” Jordan said. “He even came into the kitchen once during a dinner party!”
This is certainly one pesky possum. His pasta-loving shenanigans are capturing the hearts of thousands. Apparently, when you’re that cute, you can get away with anything.
