Cats are pretty territorial creatures, and they can be worse than little kids when it comes to sharing. Anyone who owns more than one cat knows that it’s likely that these independent fur babies will require separate litter trays, beds, drinking bowls, and of course, food bowls. Dinner time is one of the most exciting parts of the day for our pets, and they wouldn’t want anything to get in the way of that.
So when one cat’s dinner was rudely interrupted by none other than a wild possum, she really didn’t know what to make of it all.
The cat’s owner managed to capture the hilarious moment on camera as it happened, and he posted the pictures online for us all to see. We think that the cat’s reaction is so adorably funny that we just knew we’d have to share these pictures with you!
“Are you lost, pal?”
The hilarious photos were shared on Imgur by MrRogers247 in March 2018, and thanks to the power of social media they now have over 47,000 views! The poster shared the seven pics with some hilarious captions, so we’ll be sure to include them in here.
The first pic shows the possum sitting close by the cat’s food bowl, as the cat watches from the safety of the doorway. It seems that he’s only just arrived on the porch, and the poor cat looks as if she has no idea what to do! So she sits and simply stares at the possum, evidently hoping that he’ll run away.
“Excuse me, that’s actually MY dinner.”
As the greedy possum begins to eat the cat’s food, the poor puss turns to her owner with a look of desperation on her face. She clearly doesn’t want the possum to eat her food, but she’s not quite brave enough to go and confront him about it.
“Umm. A little help please.”
As the possum licks his lips in the background, the cat decides that it’s time to forget about dignity. She puts her face right up to the window of the door and gives her owner her most pleading look. She knows that he could chase away the possum quite easily if he wanted to, but he’s having too much fun laughing at the situation in front of him.
“You see there’s been a mistake, you accidentally gave MY dinner to this imposter.”
The cat is beginning to realize that her desperate looks aren’t doing the job. It’s time to get brave and face this on her own.
“You serious??? You’re just gonna stand there and take pictures, I’m starving… You know what, that’s fine.”
The cat bravely creeps over to the bowl, where the greedy possum is still happily munching away. She would normally hate sharing her food but decides that she would rather share than not have anything at all. But it seems that the possum isn’t in a sharing mood.
“I can share…oh my favorite. CAT food.”
The cat soon realizes that she isn’t going to get her food back. It’s time for a quick retreat away from the possum.
“Ok ok ok sorry, enjoy.”
The cat reverts back to the safer option: staring in desperation at her owner. We loved seeing these hilarious pictures, though we hope that the poor kitty was rewarded with a lovely fresh bowl of dinner at the end of all of this!
