Police horses are often overlooked whenever we think about service animals. Not only do police horses give officers increased height and visibility, but they are often at the frontline for potentially dangerous situations such as riots and large scale protests. A police horse has to possess the bravery to keep them calm in stressful situations, as well as patience and quick reactions.
Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that a police horse isn’t all that different from the horses you see in the fields and stables. Though they take their job seriously, horses still like to have their fun and downtime like the rest of us.
So when a police horse came across a street jazz band playing while he was on duty, he couldn’t resist having a bit of a boogie. Someone caught the whole thing on video, and it’s bound to bring a smile to your face.
The video was posted onto YouTube by Antoinenaccache and had received over 288k views since it was shared. The video begins with a jazz band playing a pretty catchy tune out in the streets. The band has attracted the attention of many onlookers, and people have begun to dance in the street. It’s already a joyful event- but things are about to be taken up another level.
Enticed by the sound of the music, a police horse emerges into the scene, and he begins to boogie as he walks towards the group.
Now, we’re not too familiar with the different types of dance, but we’re pretty certain that this horse is attempting a little bit of salsa- and we think he’s got the moves! The horse begins with some two-stepping which is in perfect time to the beat before he does a couple of spins and kicks.
You can tell the crowd is absolutely loving the horse’s dance moves, and as the horse steps back and forth, the people in the streets join in as well, until the whole thing becomes a great big dance party. It looks like everyone is having the most fun, and we can’t help wishing that we were a part of it!
Although the police horse is still at work, it’s clear that there’s nothing dangerous about this crowd of dancing people, so he’s allowed to let his mane down a little- so to speak.
We have to also give credit to the police officer riding the horse, who executes his teammate’s moves perfectly and manages to remain composed throughout the whole thing! We really do love every bit about this video.
