Pit bulls often have a bad reputation.

When people imagine pit bulls, they think of aggressive, rabid dogs often chained in a backyard. They might also think of fighting dogs or dogs that made the news because of biting a child.

However, pit bulls are not aggressive by nature. The dog has been described as affectionate, loyal, and loving dogs with a steady temperament.

Unfortunately, many pit bulls have irresponsible owners that do not care for them properly. These owners often buy pit bulls because of the dog’s “macho” reputation and encourage their dogs to be tough and threatening.

One lucky pit bull was able to avoid a life of fighting and reunite with his brother who was separated from him when they were puppies.

These pit bull brothers are Keiko and Niko.

Simi Valley Missing Pets, a rescue organization, saved a litter of pit bull puppies from becoming fighting dogs. After the rescue nursed the puppies back to health, they were ready to be adopted.

Their owner saw the puppies online but lives in a town that had a three-dog limit. Because she already had two older dogs, she was only able to adopt one puppy, Keiko.

Other families and owners adopted Niko and the other puppies.

“Keiko ended up being the perfect little pup. He was so well-behaved. We couldn’t have been luckier,” their owner shared with The Dodo.

Five months later, their oldest dog passed away.

One night, when the owner was online on her phone, she came across Niko’s photo.

The following day she learned that Niko had been returned and that his adoptive family wasn’t good to him.

Because they were a tw0-dog family, she turned to her husband and told him that they needed to adopt Niko immediately. He wholeheartedly agreed with her.

They successfully reunited Niko with his brother Keiko.

The owner described him as very sweet yet very timid. He also didn’t know any commands.

However, what he did know was his brother Keiko.

The two dogs immediately recognized each other, and Keiko never left Niko’s side.

The first night Niko came home, his new owners placed him in a crate to sleep. Keiko went inside and stayed beside him the whole night.

The two brothers are now inseparable. They take baths together, go hiking with each other, and even love squeezing into one tiny kitchen corner side by side.

Niko and Keiko love being together, and Niko has become more confident ever since he was adopted.

“He will always hold on to some part of his past, but having Keiko every step of the way really got him through everything,” their owner said.

The brothers’ adorable and loving relationship has melted over 11 million views online.
