Istanbul, Turkey is famous for having a huge stray cat population. In total, there are believed to be about 125,000 stray cats roaming the streets of the city.
A kind pianist named Sarper Duman decided he wanted to help some of the cats in his city. And so, he took in nine injured stray cats.
“I have nine cats now. All my cats are from the streets who I found injured and I helped them for all their treatment,” Duman told Love Meow.
Duman quickly found that the cats loved when he played piano for them. He told Love Meow:
“I always play piano at my home almost every night and whenever I sit to play, all my cats come around, they hang out with me and they love to sleep around the piano.”
Duman’s entourage includes a blind ginger cat named Veysel. Veysel absolutely loves hearing Duman play. He also enjoys sitting on the windowsill and listening to birds chirping outside. Duman says:
“Listening to the birds, getting fresh air is our favorite activity. I hang out an hour every day at the window with my angel.”
Veysel also sometimes plays duets with Duman.
Veysel isn’t the only cat who plays the keyboard with Duman—Duman also has a sweet striped cat who loves playing music with his dad.
Duman shares photos and videos of his cats on his Instagram page, where he has over 600,000 followers. Everyone loves seeing Duman and his cats jamming out together.

When Duman and his cats aren’t playing piano, they usually spend most of their time cuddling up together.
Duman can’t imagine life without his cats. He told Love Meow:
“They are my life, they are my heart, they are my peace.”
Thanks to Duman, these nine cats have a wonderful home with a musician dad who’s completely devoted to them. If you’d like to see more photos and videos of Duman and his cats playing piano together, check out his Instagram page.
