This sad little fish was abandoned by it’s owner at a pet shop where Lacey Scott, an avid Tik Tok user, was working. The fish was black, 10 years old, and barely moving. She didn’t want to abandon the poor thing like his previous owners so she took him in a decided to nurse him back to health.

Her viral Tik Tok video documented the whole process and also has over 5 million views.

He first order of business was his home. She needed to put him in a tank where she could easily care for him and change his water daily. She called this shallow, temporary home the hospital tank where he eventually started swimming a little more, and losing the lesions on his belly.

After naming the fish Monstro, she moved him up to a larger 85 gallon tank and introduced him to some friends. Monstro immediately started growing more and becoming a more active fish. One thing that was most surprising though, was that he began to change color.

You can see from the Tik Tok video that he starts out a sickly black color, not looking healthy at all. But after his adoption, he begins to transform completely. He becomes bright orange and swims around like any other healthy fish in his tank.

You wouldn’t thing that fish could have much of a personality, but Monstro’s owner has to disagree. “Monstro is somehow a big goof while also being a high maintenance diva at the same time.” He’s not only fed often, but fed well. Most goldfish need a quality diet so that their small compact bodies don’t develop gastrointestinal issues.

Not only does Monstro love food, he also loves attention. He not only comes to the walls of the tank looking for food, but has also attempted to splash whoever is working at the desk nearby. “He reminds me of a bumper car, he gets going and then can’t stop so he just bounces off of things and plows through the other fish, or he’ll try turning around and somehow end up doing a backflip. It’s pretty comical to watch.

And people loved watching his journey on Tik Tok. Not only has it been viewed millions of times, but it’s also been shared and like over a million times. And to think there was someone out there that didn’t want this fish! “I don’t know how long he has left, but he’ll spend the rest of his days happy and loved.” Lacey said.
