The groomer is an essential part of owning a pooch. Without a regular visit, our pups can become frizzy, matted, and long in the claw. Even though the groomer is essential, that doesn’t always mean they do a good job, however! These are some of the best (and worst) before and afters of people who took their dog to get groomed and ended up picking up a new dog!
1. Full-on snaggletooth
The fluffy hair hid the snaggletooth a bit, but after the cut, it’s nearly impossible to hide. We think it adds character, even if it is a snagging hazard on certain clothing.
2. Alpaca Dog
Alpacas are cool and all (and llamas, too), but there is a reason people don’t keep them as pets. This poor dog got the alpaca package and ended up looking like this.
3. Ya, you’re fired
Sometimes it’s best to part ways. This is a good example of drawing the line. I mean, this is just bad! Look at the poor guys head fur!
4. A bad groomer
There is a security with staying with who you know. Sometimes, an emergency requires you to change up who you regularly go to, however. This time it didn’t pay off.
5. Too cute
The owner said his dog looked way too cute. The groomer decided to help with that and make him not so cute anymore. Mission accomplished.
6. Buzz cut
This looks like they walked into the groomers and said “give ’em a buzz cut”. We don’t think that’s how it happened, but it sure looks that way. Those eyes are crying for help.
7. Science experiment
Science NEEDED to know how this breed looked without its fur. After the experiment, this is what came out. Successful, by the looks of it.
8. She deserved better
This little dog is named Maggie May. From the looks of things, she was a cute fluffer of a dog until disaster struck. She deserved so much better. RIP Maggie May.
9. Knock-off lion
Lions are kings of the savannah. They can chase and catch whatever prey they so desire. This poor dog may have a mane now, but he is quite a ways away from being a king.
10. Not the worst
One advantage to having zero hair is that you can’t get things stuck in it. The classic “food in the beard look” isn’t possible if you don’t have a beard to begin with!
11. Trim is subjective
This woman took her golden collie to the groomers and asked for a trim. While they technically did trim him, the poor guy looks like he lost some weight!
12. Handsome boy
The second pic is when you get a REALLY bad haircut and your mom still calls you a handsome boy. It’s sweet, but we all know a mom’s job is to lie and tell you how amazing you are.
13. Doggy bun
A solid top-knot can look really good. Unfortunately, it makes an easy target for the inexperienced scissors of a groomer. This one just straight snipped it off!
14. In all the wrong places
I love how the groomers looked at this dog and decided to take all its hair in exactly the wrong places. It’s like an image in contrast but a puppy version.
15. Avoid the head
They were working their way up this dog’s body, trimming all the way. When they got to the neck, however, they just called it quits and took a lunch break. That’s what it looks like at least!
16. Unaffected
This dog didn’t let its horrible haircut stop it from being as happy as can be. Its owners said:
As long as he’s happy, we’re happy.
17. Warm tail
They shaved this entire dog down to its skin – well, almost. They decided to leave the tail fluffy just in case it got cold and he needed to warm his tail up.
18. Honey-do
Wife asked her husband to trim the dog. This is what she got a little while later. Honestly, what was she expecting?
19. Something went wrong
This poor boy was minding his own business and having a blast… until the groomers struck. Now, he looks like he got out of the ocean and was given a once-over with a pair of shears.
20. Emo phase
“It’s not just a phase mom, it’s a lifestyle.” We all had this phase of something similar to it. Mine included a studded belt and only wearing black Vans. What a time.
21. Rounded out
This puffy pup went from frizzled to rounded out REAL quick. We can’t say we hate it though! It might be our first improvement, honestly.
22. Self-trim
This guy decided to trim his own dog and ended up creating a scholar. Now, every time he tried to feed his dog he has to do a few math equations.
23. Reverse it
This is quite a funny photo. First we have a trimmed pup and shaved human. They took the same photo in the same spot but decided to grow out their hair! This is definitely a post-covid photo.
24. Karen
If you don’t know what an Internet Karen is, you should do some googling. This dog looks like it just asked to speak to a manager and is on the way to drop off Timmy for soccer practice. You better believe she brought orange slices.
25. Homeless to philospher
The first photo looks like this dog was totally homeless and depressed. The second one looks like the dog is still depressed, but because he has realized that existence is meaningless.
26. Uh-oh
This pomeranian got a haircut and looks cute (in our opinion). Apparently, as the comments made clear, you aren’t supposed to cut poms hair! They have a delicate double coat and shouldn’t be cut like this. At least he’s cute!
27. Dumbo dog
This dog looked pretty normal from the start. After a quick cut, however, I would fear that he would flap a few times too hard and end up flying away like Dumbo. A stiff breeze might knock him over.
28. Stranger
This dog doesn’t even remotely look the same. The haircut seems to have changed way more than just his hair, it looks like it changed his essence. We can’t explain it.
29. Fluffers to old man
This haircut turned the fluffy sleepy boy into a literal new dog. He now looks like an old man who grunts instead of saying yes or no. We can respect it.
30. Cut off his hair AND his energy
The first pic shows how happy this pup is. The second shows the hair and all the effort that went into trimming this fella. Apparently get is like Samson and once his hair was gone he became scared and weak.
31. Ladies go wild
This dog’s name is Snickett and when he gets a trim, the ladies just can’t hold back. That’s what his owner says, at least.
Snickett… Always Loves When He Gets His Hair Done. Drives The Ladies Wil
32. Strutting
This was the summer haircut for a golden doodle and he looks like he lost about 15 lbs of fur. His owner said he looks sad but was strutting around the house because he felt so good.
33. Differnt dog and person
You would feel comfortable betting money that these two pics have different people and dogs. Unfortunately, you would have lost that bet. A haircut did wonders in changing how these two look.
34. NeverEnding Dog
This may just be a personal thing, but doesn’t the second pic of the dog look like the dragon from A NeverEnding Story? I think it might be the way his ears fold back.
35. Changed his breed
This pup got so much hair cut off he literally switched dog breeds. Who knew that was even possible? This photo might just be the first documented case of it.
36. Actual toy poodle
While we don’t know the actual breed of this dog, we are going to call it a toy poodle anyways. The pup looks like it was just plucked off a shelf and handed to a kid to take home.
37. Poor pup
When this woman dropped off her pup, she was hoping for a trim and maybe some doggy cologne. What she got, however, was not that. This poor dog looks like a toddler with scissors got to her.
38. Dwarf
This dog looks like it was turned into a dwarf or garden gnome after it got a trim! His little beard is so cute and his eyes strangely look like human ones. We think it’s pretty cute.
39. Summer vibes? Check.
For a dog as fluffy as this one, getting a summer cut is essential. Without it, they will overheat from being outside almost instantly. We love how he kept his scrunchy face!
40. Crazy eyes
The first pic shows a rather normal-looking dog, even if he looks a little sad. The second one is of a terrifying crazy-eyed dog who will stand over you looking into your eyes when you wake up.
In a world of “covid-cuts”, you can only do the best with what you’ve been given. Despite people’s best attempts, they still had a few botched attempts to make their pup a little cooler (and prettier). Thankfully, a dog’s personality doesn’t really reside in its hair!
