The great thing about dogs is that people can choose from a large variety of breeds. From small to large and everything in between, there’s a perfect pup for everyone. But some people naturally gravitate to the Chow Chow. And for good reason…this dignified breed is gorgeous.
Intro to the Chow Chow
Often referred to simply as the “Chow,” this dog hails from ancient China. Not only is this breed smart but also protective and serious-minded. But it’s the dog’s lion-like mane that makes it stand out. That combined with almond-shaped eyes and a bluish-black tongue, the Chow Chow is a unique pup.
Coats of many colors
One of the cool things about the Chow Chow is that it comes in several different colors. These include red, black, cinnamon, blue, and cream. But one pup came out differently. We think he’s a unique mix. Now, people around the world are obsessed with him.
Just like the cookie
When first introduced, this dog was still a small pup. Due to his incredible coloring, he was given the nickname Oreo cloud. But in real life, his name is Chief.
His chosen name
Sara Hamilton, who got Chief at six weeks old, said that when full-grown, he’ll weight about 85 pounds. She went on to explain that he’s a leader…not a follower. Check this out…when he first arrived at Sara’s house, he was already potty trained. And while still young, he watches over his family by sleeping near the front door at night.
Instant notoriety
Chief was first noticed by online users after Sara posted a photo of him in a Facebook group called Dogspotting Society. Almost immediately, people fell in love with this puppy. And with such beautiful color and gorgeous blue eyes, it’s easy to see why.
A personality to match
Although the Chow Chow is an amazing dog, “Oreo cloud” has an extra special personality. Sara shared that he’s super smart and easy-going. But here’s the cool part…he’s working toward becoming a therapy, working specifically with children.
A people puppy
Yes, most dogs love children, especially when they’re puppies. But Chief makes a different kind of connection. Although he loves everyone he meets, he’s naturally drawn more to kids. That’s why he’ll turn out to be such an amazing therapy dog.
An internet sensation
Chief has become so popular on social media that he now has his own Instagram page. There, fans can see frequently updated photos. Even as he gets bigger, he remains just as famous as he was as a tiny pup.
Extensive training
While young, Sara knew it was important to teach Chief proper etiquette. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has slowed down the progress of his training, but classes will resume as soon as possible. After he reaches one year of age, he’ll begin to take special classes that’ll allow him to get certified.
In the meantime…
…he’ll just lie around and play being the magnificent pup that he is. But once Chief completes the certification program, he’ll head to different hospitals where he’ll put smiles on sick children’s faces. And with his coloring and personality, kids are going to love him even more than the interest does.
