Losing someone you love is probably one of the most heartbreaking things that a person can experience.
It can shatter someone’s spirit, and the pain they feel is unimaginable.
In 2015, Jessie Springer’s dog, Nugget, suddenly disappeared.
She was used to being with Nugget all the time, and he was also her “ride or die,” so it was an extremely challenging situation for her.
Back then, she did everything she could to find Nugget.
She also wondered whether anyone had seen him, as well as his identification microchip.
In addition, she called a number of veterinary clinics and animal shelters.
Sadly, she didn’t find Nugget.
She had already given up because her fur baby had been gone for years.
She even thought that he walked off to pass away, considering that he was already old.
Life is indeed unpredictable.
Who would have thought that she would find Nugget after 7 years?
Yup, you read that right.
That dog that went missing back in 2015 was found after many years.
However, it was not in Farmington, New Mexico, where Jessie lives.
He was found 1,700 miles away from home.
While it is unclear how Nugget got there, what’s important is he was found by a kindhearted person.
One evening, Jennifer of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, saw Nugget outside her home.
She didn’t ignore it and decided to go outside with a flashlight to check the dog out.
Although Jennifer was clueless about Nugget’s story and identity, she didn’t hesitate to help him.
She took him to the veterinarian.
Fortunately, they discovered Nugget’s microchip.
They were able to identify him and gather his owner’s details.
Jennifer didn’t waste time and got in touch with Jessie immediately.
An unexpected call
Jessie was stunned when Jennifer called her.
It had been 7 years, and she didn’t expect that she would still find her beloved furry friend.
During their conversation over the phone, Jessie had to ask about the appearance of the dog that Jennifer had found to make sure that it was Nugget.
When Jennifer described him, she knew that it was her fur baby.
Despite the distance between them, Jennifer was able to speak with Nugget right away.
It was through FaceTime.
The heartwarming reunion
Jessie and Nugget reunited after 7 years.
Aside from Jennifer, Carolina Loving Hound Rescue also contributed to their reunion.
They made it possible for Jessie to travel to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and pick up her adorable pooch.
Angela Gschwind of CLHR was so moved by Nugget and Jessie’s story.
“We have reunited animals that have been gone for a week or a month, but typically within a 100-mile radius, but nothing like this,” she told WYFF News.
Who wouldn’t be touched by Nugget’s story?
It’s a relief to know that he was able to return home even though it took him 7 years.
He is such a tough dog, and despite being far from Jessie, he managed to hang on.
Their story shows that even if you are far from each other or haven’t seen one another in a while, the love we have for those we care about won’t ever fade away.
