If one thing is for certain, it’s that dogs love tennis balls. It’s one of the best types of toys to mess around with. While technically, tennis balls are used for playing the sport of tennis, they also work great for keeping pets entertained.

The little yellow balls are so versatile.

Dogs can chase them, play fetch with them, chew on them, and even get a match of tug of war going.

Normally, all it takes is one tennis ball to keep a pup busy.

However, have you ever wondered what a dog would do if hundreds of tennis balls happened to suddenly rain down from the sky? That’s exactly what happened in a YouTube video posted online a while back.

The results of the experiment were so hilarious that people couldn’t resist spreading the video all over the world. To date, over twelve million people have checked it out.

“Our dog’s dream came true when a local tennis instructor gave us 300 used tennis balls,” the video description reads.

The video starts with the black lab standing out on the family’s back porch.

She sees someone up on the second story of the home looking down at her and immediately gets excited. It’s understandable. Her owner is holding a tennis ball out of the window and she starts barking in anticipation.

The ball drops and the pup grabs it off of the porch within one bounce.

However, that’s just the start of the madness.

Within seconds, another ball drops, and another, and another.

The pup comes flying back across the deck.

She doesn’t know what to do.

She still has the original tennis ball in her mouth, yet more and more keep falling. It’s complete chaos.

All of a sudden, about one hundred balls rain down at once and the dog lunges for all of them.

She gets totally pelted in the process, but it’s all in good fun. For a dog, getting attacked with tennis balls is pretty much a dream come true. It’s the most stimulating thing that she’s ever experienced.

It provides plenty of entertainment for the rest of the family also.

The camera turns and we see that two little kids are standing on the other side of the deck watching and laughing too. Both of them let out a loud giggle.

The good thing about tennis balls is that they are cheap, effective, and often come second-hand.

After you have played a bunch of games of tennis with a ball, it loses a little bit of its bounce. That’s when most people throw it away. However, if you have a dog in the home, it becomes a pet toy.

According to pet food company CANIDAE, tennis balls are one of the safest types of toys for dogs. You just have to make sure that they don’t chew on multiple balls at once. It can force one of the balls too deep in their mouth, causing it to get lodged in the dog’s throat. However, in most cases, that’s not a problem.

In this situation though, it might be a slight risk.

Ultimately, the dog gets totally overwhelmed.

When there are 300 tennis balls on the porch, which one do you grab? It’s just so hard to make a decision. Over the next several days, we imagine that she is going to be very busy as she works to chew on all of them. Of course, her parents will be around to supervise her and make sure that she doesn’t do anything irresponsible.

In the end, it was a pretty interesting experiment and the dog learned a valuable lesson that day — you can never have too many balls to play with. Chewing on the little yellow things is one of the greatest pleasures in life. It definitely pays to know a tennis instructor. For a pup, it’s a dream come true.
