Getting groomed isn’t usually a dog’s favorite thing, and sometimes it can be tempting to hold off on the grooming process for the sake of keeping your pooch happy. But clipping your dog’s nails is an important task that helps to keep them healthy.
Dogs that often run around on hard surfaces, such as concrete sidewalks, may be able to wear down their nails in this way. But most of our pooches are used to playing in grassy fields, which won’t have an effect on their nails. The longer your dog’s nails get, the more uncomfortable it is for them to walk around, and the risk of accidentally tearing one off is greatly increased.
With this in mind, nail-clipping is something that dogs will just have to deal with – but that doesn’t mean they won’t be dramatic about it. In today’s story, we present to you what is without a doubt one of the most dramatic nail-clipping videos we have ever seen.
It’s time for Ginger the pit bull to get her nails clipped, and she’s having a ruff time with it. The video (original source unknown) was posted onto RM Videos and became an instant viral sensation. Since September 2019, it has gained over 9.9 million views and 248k likes as people couldn’t get enough of Ginger’s hilarious reaction to having her nails clipped.
The video begins with Ginger’s owner holding out her hand towards Ginger. She says, “Give me your hand, Ginger,” and waits for the dog to put her paw onto her hand. But Ginger has other ideas. The stubborn pooch’s guilty expression shows that she is fully aware of what is being asked of her but she isn’t willing to do it.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Ginger’s mom says. But the pooch just isn’t having it.
Eventually, Ginger’s owner takes the pooch’s paw into her hand and Ginger seems to admit defeat. But as her owner is about to clip her nails, Ginger’s reaction is hilariously dramatic. She lifts up her head with the best poker face we have ever seen, before collapsing onto her back as if she’s passed out.
Evidently this is something which happens quite a lot with the stubborn pitbull, as the man behind the camera says, “there she goes,” as Ginger falls. The claw-trimming routine simply seems to be something that Ginger would rather not do.
Hilariously, Ginger’s mom still manages to continue holding her pooch’s paw and begins to trim her claws while Ginger lays on her back playing dead.
Ginger lies completely still and stares up with a pained expression. Someone give this dog an Oscar! The cameraman films right up close to Ginger’s face and films a hilarious close-up, but although the dramatic dog sees him, she still doesn’t move.
We wonder if Ginger stays like this for the whole time her claws are getting clipped? We’d hedge a guess that she does! Watch the hilarious video in full below.
