Most families would have a dog or cat as pets.
They are common in every household because it’s easier to get (especially with many shelters seeking adoptive families) and take care of one. Dogs and cats are also more familiar with children and vice versa.
While others keep exotic pets with them at home.
The most common ones are rodents such as hamsters and guinea pigs. Others also keep amphibians and reptiles like turtles and chameleons. They require special care, but at least they are not as hairy and furry, right?
In Japan, one exotic animal made its way to their homes: otters.
The craze started with one Japanese café featuring exotic animals as pets. It became a popular attraction to the point that it encouraged others to keep exotic pets in their homes. However, this is a controversial issue among animal rights groups.
Two of these otters kept as pets have become a viral sensation.
The owner posts adorable photos of the duo, which gained over a million subscribers on their YouTube Channel. Their social media accounts – including Instagram – are full of pictures and videos of their daily life, quirks, and encounters with other humans, just like the video below.
These two otters had visitors for the day and were very curious.
Kotaro and Hana had just woken up when they heard the commotion from downstairs. They heard voices that didn’t belong to their family – and one especially curious sound. These cute otters had visitors for the day.
They went down to see who they were.
And one of them was already waiting at the bottom of the staircase. A little boy name Kohaku was already peaking, searching for the two otters. Kotaro and Hana were surprised by his presence but followed him anyway.
That’s when the duo saw that more visitors were waiting for them!
The owner’s friend and her family came to visit, and the otters gave them a warm welcome. They crawled throughout the living room, greeting them with every sniff. Until they encountered something for the first time…
A baby! This new acquaintance amused Kotaro and Hana.
They went near Kotoha and sniffed him intensely. This was the first time they encountered a baby, so they probably were not familiar with the baby’s smell. Still, they went back and forth to smell him, curious about what this tiny human could do.
They could see that Kotoha was also on his tummy but wasn’t moving like the other kids.
On the other hand, the baby looked like it was curious about the otters. You could see the slight confusion on his face. A few moments later, Kotoha smiled and tried to reach out to Kotaro and Hana as if asking for them to play with him.
Both otters were very curious and more cautious and scared than their visitors.
The kids loved playing around and chasing the adorable duo, while Kotaro and Hana seemed like they loved the company as well. Follow their Instagram account for more videos of the cute otters!
