A pet’s reaction to something new in its eyes is always amusing to watch.

They tend to make these adorable sounds and gestures whenever something surprises them, may it be a new food, a new bed, or just a new stuff at home to which they are not so used to.

Pretty much like humans, our dear pets could also get either overly excited or curious about something they have never seen before.

Home pets are usually dogs and cats but over time, the variety of animals that could be categorized as pets became broader and broader.

Now, you’d see someone with pigs, bunnies, porcupines, geckos, tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, and who could possibly forget the Arabs’ tigers and lions?

However, keeping these animals as pets comes with restrictions and guidelines that needed to be strictly followed.

Just like in this video that features Otters named Hana (female, 4 years old) and Kotaro (male, 5 years old). They are the lovely pets of a Japanese guy behind the YouTube channel ‘KOTSUMET‘.

Otters are carnivorous mammals that feed on fish, frogs, crayfish, and crabs.

They are known to be playful animals that love to be involved in activities for fun like making waterslides and sliding on them into the water. Otters also love to play with small stones and other tiny objects.

In Japan, however, they regulate the ability of their residents in keeping Otters.

The person behind KOTSUMET wrote:

“Having an otter as a pet is illegal in most countries.
However, in Japan, otters can be traded, although it is limited to domestic breeds only.
Currently, severe restrictions are in place for buying and selling otters in Japan.
There is a severe penalty for selling and buying otters with unknown birth origins without permits.
Kotaro and Hana were both born in Japan and have permits.
It is so much work to have an otter as a pet.”

What is that?

In this video, Kotaro and Hana’s owner bought a voice changer mic on Amazon and have his little mammals try it.

“My otters were mystified as they heard their voices on the microphone for the first time. Kotaro’s death stare at the noisy Hana in the video’s latter half certainly leaves an impression. I bought this karaoke mic from Amazon. It has eight different sound effects. I love its voice-changing magic and monster modes,” he wrote in the video’s description.

Upon unboxing the microphone, both his Otters went ahead and physically inspected it by sniffing it all over and by touching it.

Kotaro and Hana’s owner then started to check the cute Otters’ reactions by trying the mic on. At first, he used some random voice effects to fish some reactions from his Otters.

As expected, both mammals were puzzled and stunned as to where the “weird” voices were coming from.

Next, he tried feeding Hana and Kotaro and activated voice effects on their sounds while eating.

There wasn’t much sound from Kotaro who is known for being quiet while eating. While Hana, the noisy one, kept on creating some chirps and squeaks.
